The week following Emerson and Mattheo's kiss was a whirlwind neither of them fully anticipated. The moment they stepped out of the bathroom that day after their second kiss, Emerson smoothing her hair and Mattheo adjusting his collar, Enzo pounced on the pair like a cat spotting a cornered mouse.

"Well, well, well," Enzo drawled, a wicked grin splitting his face as he leaned back onto Padma Patil's bed again, clearly enjoying the show. "You two were gone quite a while. Theo actually managed to use that spinning music thing during that time to play us a song. Did Mattheo need extra convincing to sit still?"

Olivia smirked, elbowing Theo as they exchanged a knowing glance. Emerson couldn't help but notice that they were shoulder-by-shoulder as they stood together. "Or maybe Em decided to add a few personal touches to his first aid treatment?"

Theo chuckled, raising an eyebrow at Mattheo. "She must've done a fantastic job. You look completely fine now."

Mattheo ran a hand through his curls and glared at Enzo. Despite his annoyance, his dark eyes betrayed a flicker of amusement. "You really need to learn when to keep your mouth shut, Enzo."

"Oh, I'll stop," Enzo teased, leaning back with a mischievous grin. "Right after you two admit that you're more than just friends."

"I will hex you into a beetle, Lorenzo," Emerson muttered, but her voice lacked bite, especially when Mattheo's lips quirked in a faint smirk beside her as he sat on the edge of Emerson's bed. He gazed at her in awe.

The last week of school was completely free from classes, since all of the Fifth-Years had completed their exams. Nearly all of the students spent their free time frolicking in the sunshine, gaining some well-deserved rays after spending so much time studying in the castle for weeks. They busied themselves with laughter and enjoyment, allowing themselves the reward of relaxation.

Emerson and Mattheo however, were caught up in something entirely different. It was as if neither of them could keep themselves away, their connection a magnetic force that defied the constraints of time or place. Despite their best attempts to stay inconspicuous, their best friends noticed every passing look and whispered exchange, though they didn't comment.

Much.

Their next kiss came the very next day on Monday, away from prying eyes. Emerson decided to attend the greenhouses to collect some flowers for Hermione and Ron, who were still in the hospital wing. She intended to deliver them anonymously by owl post, since she wasn't exactly sure how Harry would react if she ran into him.

Mattheo decided to accompany her, with a cigarette between his lips while Theo, Olivia and Enzo were playing mock Quidditch somewhere in the Grounds. Before Emerson could reach out and pluck a set of fresh daffodils, Mattheo pulled her by the wrist into the shadowy nook of Greenhouse Three.
