The lesson schedule for the Ravenclaws and in particular, Emerson and Olivia, meant they had no classes with the Slytherins until the second half of the week. This meant that at least from a lesson standpoint, Emerson was completely free from any distractions or confrontations involving Mattheo on Mondays and Tuesdays. During mealtimes, she had chosen to completely ignore him and asked Olivia to do the same, which meant she had no idea whether he stared at her or not, as he usually did nowadays.

It wasn't until Wednesday that she finally had to actually be within close proximity of Mattheo during Herbology. Their stations during Herbology were permanent for the entire year, which meant she was stuck with facing Mattheo, Theo and Enzo during each and every lesson in the greenhouses.

The latter two weren't as bothersome, but Mattheo was because she could actually see him staring at her from time to time. Wednesday's Herbology class was a more hands on in terms of their lesson, which meant they actually had to pay attention to what they were doing. They were handling Fanged Geraniums which were fanged flowers with sharp teeth. If you weren't careful and concentrating properly, the plant could easily bite and attack your fingers as you tried to remove its fangs. So, Mattheo could not stare at her for the entirety of the class, but she did feel his gaze shift to her direction from time to time, even though she did not dare look in his.

During Potions the next day, much to their shared dismay, Snape finally decided to make them work in pairs to brew a Strengthening Solution. Emerson was dreading this type of lesson, and she had been lucky enough to avoid it until now. This meant that they now needed to work with their desk partner, which meant she actually had to work and speak with Mattheo. Her emotions immediately flared up as Snape announced the lesson plan to the class, his upper lip curling. It was as if this was part of some masterful plot against her, where Mattheo and Snape were conspiring together.

The only enjoyment she had at all was that she knew Mattheo didn't want to work with her either.

She crossed her arms and looked at Mattheo, who was looking as equally irritated as her once Snape finished speaking. She couldn't help herself as the rest of the class started to move around and organise their workspaces. "You better not ruin this for me, Riddle. Unlike you, I'm trying to get an Outstanding in my O.W.L."

"Don't worry about me, Wilmore. You're not the only person who's good at this class," Mattheo taunted her. "You should be grateful, if anything, I know what I'm doing."

"Do you?" Emerson retorted, even though she knew deep down that he did. She just wanted to say something because she couldn't stand him.

"Yes," He snapped at her. He didn't enjoy that she still doubted him and his potion-making skills when he actually knew what he was doing when it came to this class. He was actually quite intelligent, and he didn't like the implication from her that he was dumb. "But it would be funny to make you get one terrible fail grade next to your perfect little name."
