"Our first match, Shoto Todoroki versus Hanta Sero."
Even from a distance, Yuka could tell something was wrong from the way Todoroki was standing. The moment the match began, she saw Sero's tape shoot out and Todoroki being flung to the side in a matter of seconds.
A large rumble sounded through the arena as the ground shook. Yuka steadied herself on Uraraka, furrowing her eyebrows as she suddenly felt a shiver of cold travel down her spine.
"What the fuck?" She yelled as she tried to see what was happening down below, and instead saw her view blocked by ice. She shifted uncomfortably, hearing gasps around the whole arena. She couldn't see what Todoroki did, but she knew. Suddenly she heard a girl's voice in the crowd.
"Good try!"
"Good try!" The crowd echoed back.
"Are they... talking to Sero?" Midoriya said, staring at the ice that blocked their view. Yuka nodded hesitantly, something nagging in her mind.
She knew what happened.
"Todoroki-kun." She said, blocking his way. His eyes flickered down to meet hers.
"What."
"Was it your dad?" It wasn't a question. He looked away, "It's none of your business."
"I'm the only one that knows. I won't judge you."
He laughed coldly, "but you will lie to me."
Yuka shook her head, "I didn't lie to you about anything, except for how I was arranged to become your friend. Every single word I said to you was true."
Shoto regarded her with an emotionless face, his eyes tracing her familiar features, "I wish I could believe you."
"You can."
He didn't answer and walked away. "By the way, good luck with your opponent."
Yuka's eyes widened and her heart squeezed with hope at his words.
"I hope I'll get to go against you. You won't win again."
"In second place, this girl displays an impressive and rare quirk that many people would kill for, Yuka Amane."
Yuka stepped onto the ledge to see a girl from class B. Ibara Shiozaki. She had vines for her hair which could detach and work as rope.
She felt the roar of the crowd, the pure adrenaline of the match setting into her. It was so much. It felt so... good.
"Without further ado... begin."
The vines on the girl immediately elongated reaching towards Yuka, wrapping her and hoping to immobilize her. More and more vines piled on, suffocating Yuka in the air. With a growl, she burned the vines around her, falling to the floor with a thud.
