"Present simple tense, present continuous tense, present perfect tense, present perfect continuous tense..." Yuka muttered, her frustration evident in her voice. Yuka trudged down the street, her mind a whirl of English grammar rules that seemed determined to defy her understanding. She could almost feel the tangled knots of grammar rules tightening in her brain.

She glanced at her reflection in a shop window, noticing the weariness etched on her face. The end of semester exams were approaching in full speed, and Yuka was no where close to becoming proficient in her english.

Ranked 8th in the midterms wasn't terrible, but that was when she had pulled three all nighters to study-- and she had went into the exam with a good grasp on her skills.

She liked to believe she was confident in her current skills, but english managed to pop out of the blue and strangle her confidence.

As she walked, a figure caught her eye.

Yuka hesitated, her nerves getting the better of her. She knew Shoto Todoroki had been ranked fifth in the midterms, which was impressive. She approached him with a slight smile. "Hey, Todoroki-kun."

He turned to face her, his expression shifting into a pleasant, if somewhat surprised, smile. "Oh, Amane, hey."

"Uh, not great," she admitted, rubbing the back of her neck. "I've been struggling with English... I literally can't understand anything. I got eighth in the midterms, and that was when I understood everything!" She said exasperatedly.

Todoroki's smile widened slightly. "I'm sure you did better than you're giving yourself credit for. Midterms can be tough."

She sighed. "Yeah, but English is really getting to me. I understand most of the other subjects, but languages... it's like trying to crack a code."

Todoroki raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "Was that what you were mumbling about?"

She jumped, "you heard me?"

He nodded, "yeah, I was about to approach you, but then I heard the intense muttering, so I thought I would leave you at it."

Yuka gave a wry laugh. "I was going over the different tenses and trying to make sense of them. Present perfect continuous? What even is that? I swear, I just want one tense and one word for every time I need to talk about something."

"Sounds frustrating," Todoroki said. "English can be pretty complicated."

"I'm really trying to improve," Yuka continued, her voice tinged with frustration. "But it feels like every time I think I understand something, there's another rule to learn."

Todoroki considered this for a moment. "If you're struggling with English, maybe I could help. I've got some experience with tutoring, and I could probably explain things in a way that makes more sense."
