Yuka hesitated at the entrance of the prison, her breath catching in her throat. The cold air bit at her skin, but it wasn't the chill that made her pause—it was the weight of the moment. She had been dreading this visit, pushing it to the back of her mind, but after Shoto's confession and his decision to forgive his own father, something inside her shifted. Maybe it was time to confront her past, to find the answers she needed, and maybe, just maybe, to forgive the man who had caused her so much pain.
The guard led her down a sterile hallway, the sound of their footsteps echoing off the concrete walls. Her heart pounded in her chest, each step bringing her closer to the man she had once called "Dad." She clenched her fists, trying to steady her nerves, but the anxiety gnawed at her. She wasn't sure what to expect—anger, sadness, indifference—but she was determined to stay strong, to not let her emotions overwhelm her.
Finally, they reached a small room with a heavy metal door. The guard opened it, revealing a simple setup: a table, two chairs, and a thick pane of glass separating the visitor's side from the inmate's side. Yuka's eyes immediately found her father, who was seated on the other side, his hands resting on the table, his head bowed.
He looked... different. His once strong, imposing figure was slouched, and there was a deep sadness etched into his features. His hair, now streaked with gray, hung limply over his forehead, and his eyes—once so full of life—were dull, haunted by the weight of guilt and regret.
Yuka swallowed hard, trying to push down the surge of conflicting emotions that rose within her. She took a deep breath and stepped inside, the door closing behind her with a resounding clang. The noise seemed to echo in the small room, amplifying the tension between them.
Her father looked up as she entered, his eyes widening slightly in surprise. For a moment, they simply stared at each other, the silence thick and heavy. Yuka couldn't find the words; she wasn't sure where to start.
Finally, he broke the silence, his voice hoarse and trembling. "Yuka... I didn't think you'd come."
"I wasn't sure I would either," she replied, her voice sharper than she intended. She didn't want to show him how much seeing him like this affected her. She needed to stay strong, to get the answers she came for. "Why did you do it?" she asked bluntly, cutting straight to the point. "Why did you work for All For One? Why did you let him do this to me?"
Her father flinched at her words, his expression crumbling. He looked down at his hands, his shoulders shaking slightly. "Yuka, I—" he choked on his words, struggling to speak. "I was... weak. I thought I was doing the right thing. I thought... I thought I could protect you, but I was wrong. So wrong." His voice broke, and tears began to fall down his cheeks. "I didn't know what he was planning, I swear. By the time I realized what was happening, it was too late. He had complete control over everything. Over me."
"How could you let this happen?" Yuka's voice was filled with hurt and betrayal. "You were supposed to protect me, not turn me into one of his experiments! How could you just stand by and let him do this?"
