Tallheart's POV

I stood outside the How with the Narnians, waiting for the duel with Miraz to start. I have faith in King Peter. I know he will defeat Miraz and give us back our country. The royals don't seem to think the Telmarines will stay true to their word when Peter inevitably wins.

We have already lost so many brave Narnians in this fight. Our King Edmund lost his wife and sons. We cannot let all those deaths be in vain.

I am especially devastated by the loss of our Queen. She was so kind to everyone, no matter how big or small. Her death makes me scared that my wife and child won't survive the birth. I know I shouldn't think such things when they are both still doing well, but so was Queen Jacqueline. If I do lose them, I will have to be strong, like King Edmund and his daughter are being.

I focused my attention back on the two kings. King Edmund handed his brother his sword and King Peter approached Miraz. Miraz was clad in some ridiculous looking golden armor with a mask most likely intended to frighten his enemies. I thought it just looked stupid.

I watched as the fighting began. From where I stood I couldn't tell who was winning.

I was confused when I saw the two fighters retreating to their respective sides. The other Narnians and I watched as our high king groaned in pain as his brother relocated his shoulder. I saw King Edmund say something to him and he turned to face us, raising his sword in the air triumphantly like he had already won.

It seemed to boost the morale of those around me as they cheered for our high king. I saw Queen Susan rushing back towards us and the How.

"Did Queen Lucy and Princess Genevieve find Aslan?" I heard someone ask her.

"They're working on it," was her reply. She rushed to join the archers atop the How. My wife was up there as well. I thought it was the safest place for her to be, but now that I see the giant catapults the Telmarines have, I'm not so sure.

I looked back at the duel. I was confused to see Prince Caspian with his sword poised to plunge into his uncle's chest. He was saying something to the man kneeling before him when he suddenly let out a yell and drove the blade into the ground in front of his uncle.

I don't understand why he didn't kill the man while he had a chance. His uncle certainly would have if their roles had been reversed.

I heard Caspian loudly announce, "I'm giving the Narnians back their kingdom."

The next things happened so quickly I couldn't quite process what was going on. I saw Miraz fall to a heap on the ground and one of the men standing by him started yelling. "Treachery! They shot him!" I could faintly see the bright red feathers of the arrow sticking out of his back. It was one of Queen Susan's arrows, but she hadn't shot him.

I knew those Telmarines were up to no good, although I don't blame them for wanting to be rid of their tyrant of a king. I know that Prince Caspian would make a far better leader than his uncle.
