Edmund had no idea how his wife would react to what Susan told her. He hated feeling empty inside when he thought about her or their daughter.

"Edmund," Lucy prompted. "I have one more question for you."

"Yeah?"

"Why've you been so close with Lilith? I understand that you don't feel anything with Jackie and Gen, but do you really need to be so close with her?"

Edmund couldn't come up with an answer. "You know, I actually don't know. I guess it's just that my body and mind have been drawn to her for some reason."

"You act like she's your wife instead of Jackie. Even Gen sees it, that's why she threw a fit to have Jackie sit by you both."

"I-I can't explain it. I just feel like I'm being pulled to her, as if by magic. But the butterflies I used to get with Jacqueline show up now with Lilith. And it doesn't hurt to be around her."

"So... does that mean you might love Lilith?" Lucy asked sadly.

"I might. I don't know, it's all just so confusing."

"But you wouldn't leave your family for her, would you? Can't you see how sad she makes your daughter?"

"Well I wouldn't leave Jacqueline. Not with this other kid on the way. But kings can take on mistresses you know."

"But Jackie's told you her thoughts on that. She'd never allow that."

"Well Jackie's not the only one who gets a say in what can and can't happen in our relationship. I'm a king with as much power as she has as queen. If anything I'd have more, I am a man after all."

"Edmund, that doesn't sound anything like you. You've never once used your status as a man over any of us. I think that woman is very bad for you. She's changing your whole personality, and I don't like it."

"No one is changing my personality except me," Edmund stood up and stormed out of the room. He ran into Susan on the way to his room.

"Edmund! I've got great news! She doesn't blame you for how you're acting, she believes someone's put a spell on you."

Edmund rolled his eyes and kept walking.

"Edmund! Don't walk away from me! Ed! Oh that boy!"

Edmund opened the door to his bedroom and found his wife sitting on the couch with a notebook in hand. She heard him enter and turned to greet him with a smile.

"Eddie, there you are. Susan's told me what you explained to her and I—"

"Don't believe a word she said," Edmund cut her off.

"W-what?"

"I don't know what she thinks is going on, I was simply playing along with her ridiculous nonsense."
