The Narnian ship reached the port of Cair Paravel the following day.
When they reached the shore they were met with the news that Rabadash was attacking the capital of Archenland, Anvard, in retaliation for their escape. He was not pleased at having lost both women he'd wanted for himself.
Edmund and Lucy prepared to bring troops out to confront him. Susan chose to stay behind, not liking conflict or violence. Jacqueline argued with her husband about whether she would go.
"No! I will not have you in danger! You need to stay alive! You've got our child inside you, what if you got hurt and we lost them or you? What am I supposed to do without my wife and child? My decision is final. You're not going."
"Yes I am. I am a queen in my own right, you dare not refuse me! You are in just as much danger as I would be in! Our child could lose her father! How am I supposed to go on if you're not there with me? I'm going. That's final."
Edmund was utterly speechless, his mouth was gaping as she turned around to leave. "...her?" Edmund spoke quietly as his wife stormed away to prepare to leave. "It's a girl? I'm having a daughter?"
It was safe to say she won that argument.
She rode beside her husband on her horse, Anastasia, as they rode out to confront Rabadash along with the Narnian army. Corin had convinced them to take him with as well.
Along the way they ran into a familiar face.
"Shasta? Is that you?" Jacqueline asked the young boy.
"Yes your majesty," he replied.
The Queen clambered down from her horse and brought the young boy into a hug. "Oh thank Aslan you're safe!"
"There was something I needed to tell you all. Rabadash is planning to invade Anvard to storm on Narnia and abduct Queen Susan and you, Queen Jacqueline," the young boy warned.
The kind queen's eyes widened. She glanced at her husband who had a confused look on his face. She had forgotten that he didn't know about Shasta. "Thank you very much for the warning," she told the boy. "We are on our way to confront the Calormenes right now."
"You are? But your majesty..." He trailed off, glancing at her stomach.
"I'm not letting my husband do this without me. And staying behind would give Rabadash the impression that I'm afraid of him, which I'm not."
"Umm, I don't want to interrupt, but what's going on here?" Lucy asked. She was very confused as to why Jacqueline seemed to know this strange boy who looks so much like the prince at her side.
"I'd like to know that too. Jackie, do you know something we don't?" Edmund asked.
"Eddie, you remember that time when Corin ran away in Tashbaan and we found him in the square? That wasn't actually Corin, it was him, Shasta."
