Dinner time came and Caspian was surprised to see the twins already waiting at the table. He immediately knew they were going to try something.
"Hello boys, eager for some food, are we?"
"Yeah," Liam said. "We're starving." He emphasized his statement by rubbing his hand on his stomach.
"Yeah, someone didn't give us any chocolate earlier," Sebastian added.
Caspian rolled his eyes and chuckled. Just as he sat down, the visiting royals entered the dining hall with Genevieve.
"Ah, wonderful! I see you've found your way to the correct place. I apologize for how confusing these corridors can be. Even I get lost sometimes and I grew up here."
"The young princess helped us out with that," Queen Nat said with a smile.
Genevieve beamed proudly at the young King. Caspian chuckled.
"Well, by all means, have a seat. Dinner should be served shortly, but help yourselves to any appetizers. I'm not quite sure what all we have, but I can assure you that it will taste delightful."
Genevieve sat down next to her brothers and Princess Lily sat beside her. Caspian was seated across the table from the children and the other adults took their seats beside him.
"So, Princess Lily, I hear you enjoy the tales of the golden age of Narnia," Caspian prompted.
Lily looked startled at being addressed but she quickly recovered and nodded shyly. "Yes your majesty."
"We played pretend today and we acted out the golden age," Genevieve told everyone at the table. "I was my mummy. Lily played Uncle Pete."
"It sounds like you girls had lots of fun," King Barin said with a genuine smile.
"We did, did you know that Lily knows more about my parents and aunties and uncle than I do? It's incredible!"
Lily blushed and looked down at her hands. "I read a lot of stories."
"Well, I'm sure Genevieve and I can share some more about her parents if you would like to hear them. Would that be alright Genie?" Caspian asked.
"Okay! I don't remember that much except for some stuff that happened before they left, but I bet Caspian knows some good ones," Genevieve agreed.
She first started telling the story of how she and her mother were unfrozen. She talked about how they met the Narnians and Caspian. How she and her mother had to stay behind when the others raided the castle because her mother was pregnant with her brothers. She told them how she saw her great aunt in the ice wall at the How, but her father defeated her before she could come back. Then she explained how she was scared that her mother had died when giving birth to her brothers, but she didn't. She told them how her mother had her pretend to be sad that they'd died so that Caspian's uncle wouldn't try to hurt them. She talked about how she snuck along with her father when he delivered the message to Miraz, and how she'd been able to insult him.
