Caspian's POV

Genevieve has been begging me nonstop to teach her how to sword fight. She's determined, just like her parents.

I have no doubt that she will be great, her father was the greatest swordsman in all of Narnia after all. And her mother was equally terrifying.

I just know that Jacqueline will want to kill me when she finds out I taught her daughter how to fight. Well, at least I'm not as dumb as Peter to give her brothers real swords right now. They are four years old now, and they are reckless enough without deadly weapons. I get the feeling that they would destroy the castle before they themselves got hurt.

I finally caved and agreed to start teaching Genie, and let me just say that she is an incredibly fast learner.

She picked up the maneuvers even quicker than I did when I was learning to fight. I suppose she learned from watching her dad and uncle when they'd play fight or when they'd train soldiers. I know her parents would be very proud of her accomplishments so far.

When we're fighting, Genevieve is incredibly focused on what her body is doing. It's like her blade is just an extension of her arm with the way she maneuvers it so naturally. It's a stark contrast to how she normally gets distracted by every little thing. When she's focused on the fight, she uses that to her advantage by taking in all her surroundings, never missing a beat when I try to trip her up.

Up until now I've had a relatively easy time winning the upper hand, but the more she practices the harder it is for me to beat her.

Do you have any idea how embarrassing it would be if anyone found out that I lost a duel to a nine year old princess? I would be done for. It's a good thing my uncle isn't around anymore, otherwise he'd use that to convince the kingdom that I'm unfit to rule.

Whenever I fight Genevieve, I forget that she's a young princess. She fights like she's been trained her whole life, which is impressive considering she hasn't and she's only 9 years old.

I see a little bit of both of her parents in her every time she fights. Usually I see more of Edmund considering he was the swordsman, but every now and then I think I can see Genevieve's eyes start to glow with power like Jacqueline's would. I wouldn't be surprised if Genie inherited her mother's tail and powers, she's certainly nailed her mother's intimidation tactics.

Even I get intimidated by her from time to time, and I'm a king!

In the early days of her training we'd use wooden swords, but by now we've moved on to the real thing. It took her a bit to adjust to the different weight and feel of her real sword but she's got the hang of it now.

I managed to find the sword that her uncle had gifted her on her third birthday packed away in her chest that we'd salvaged from the rubble of the How. That's the sword she's been using. It fits her perfectly, it even has a dark green gem imbedded in the hilt.
