Jacqueline's POV

I was sitting with Lucy on her bed when Susan came in. I noticed she had something in her hand.

"I ran into Ash on the way here," she told me. "She told me she got this back from Bernadette." She held out my mother's necklace to me.

"Oh thank Aslan," I said under my breath as I took it back. "I'm never taking this off again."

"She also told me that Bernadette is moving out of your dorm so it'll just be you and Ashley. She said she feels awful for what happened and that she had no idea what Bernie had planned."

"I knew Ash would never do something like that to me on purpose. That would explain why she tried to usher me away when she saw Ed with her."

"There's something else I think I should warn you about," Susan said. She seemed nervous to tell me. She kept looking at her hands as she played with her fingers.

"What is it Susan?" I asked, growing more worried the longer she stalled.

"There are some rumors going around about you..."

"What are they? Are they bad?"

"Well..."

"Come on Susan, just spit it out!"

"They're saying that Ed broke up with you and kissed Bernie because he found out you were pregnant with someone else's baby," she said all in one breath.

"What?!" I exclaimed. "You don't believe that, do you? You know I'd never cheat on your brother! He's my husband and I love him, even when he hurts my feelings. Please tell me you don't believe that," I begged.

"What, no Jacqueline of course we don't believe that!" Lucy jumped in, "right Susan?"

"Right, I know that."

"Do you think it's gotten back to Edmund yet?" Lucy asked.

"I'm not sure," Susan replied.

"There's no way he would believe that, right?" I asked, worry growing in a pit in my stomach. "I mean, he knows I love him, right? Right?"

"Hey, Jackie, please don't panic. Our brother loves you and he knows you love him too," Lucy reassured me.

Her words didn't help my anxiety over the entire situation. I knew Ed would be mad if he believed the rumors, I just prayed he didn't believe them.
