"She's heading towards the target point"

"Five blocks"

"That'll be easy"

"Don't get your hopes too high, she managed to outrun the last two squads Fury send"

"That's why he send us, c'mon, we're the Avengers, we got this"

"Focus guys!"

"Four blocks"

I listened to the different voices, the Avengers as I discovered. Even though I couldn't see them and had no idea where they were, my enhanced senses could hear some of their conversations.

I slowed down slightly to buy me some time and started to play with the small rubber ball like a little kid. I tossed it in the air and caught it again, just for the effect, since I didn't have a phone to stare at.

In reality it wasn't just a ball, it was a smoke bomb, which would activate if I'd press a certain spot for three seconds. I made it myself for situations like this, but actually I didn't even know what was going on.

"Is she really playin' with a ball? How old is she?"

"The file said sixteen"

"Hey kid, you do that too?"

"N-no Mr. Stark"

"Huh"

"Let's keep focus on the mission, guys"

"Three blocks"

Suddenly I knew what they wanted me to do. They somehow found my usual hiding spot and probably tried to get me there, or kill me, I had no idea.

I changed my direction and headed to a different place, making them go crazy through their comms. I picked up my pace, wanting to get rid of them, even though I knew I could hardly outrun them. At least I needed to try.

"Plan B?"

I heard humming in response and only a few seconds later, Iron Man landed in front of me. I stopped in my tracks and looked up to him, eyes wide, lips slightly apart.

"Oh my god, you're Iron Man!" I squeaked, letting false excitement hide my nervousness.

"The one and only" he replied, sounding proud and obviously not noticing my act.

"That's so cool! Are the other Avengers here too? Can I see them? Can I get an autograph!?" I approximately threw as much questions as him as he had money and he looked a bit overwhelmed, probably not expecting this reaction from me.

"Guys help" he whispered and normally no one could hear him, but my enhanced hearing picked up the lines.

Soon, Captain America appeared and joined us. My mouth dropped dramatically and he seemed a little caught off guard as well.

"No way! I'm literally the luckiest person to meet you!" I exclaimed, my eyes darting back and forth between them.

He scratched the back of his neck sheepishly and exchanged questioning glances with the billionaire.

"Hey uh, you wanna meet the other Avengers? You can come with us" the Captain offered and I tilted my head.

"I would love to, but stranger danger, you know" I giggled, maintaining the perfectly played act.

Suddenly, Black Widow approached us and looked at me blankly. "Cut the crap" she said and extended her arm, aiming a blue glowing bracelet or something at me.

I immediately dropped the facade of the excited and overwhelmed child and stared at her emotionless.

"Wow, you can read people very well, I'm impressed" I said dryly.

"I can also fight very well, I suggest you surrender now or this will be uncomfortable" she replied as dryly as I and gestured to her bracelet.

The two boys looked completely confused.

"But that would be no fun, now would it?" I smiled, putting my index finger on the certain spot of the ball.

Three, two, one...yay

I had one second left to throw the smoke bomb at the three Avengers and clouded their vision completely, the darkness of the night was very helpful for the situation. At least for me.

Before they could react, I ran off in a fully extended sprint, grabbing another smoke bomb, thrusting it at Hawkeye and a girl with bow and arrow as well, so they wouldn't shoot me.

I turned around a corner and risked a valuable second to look over my shoulder. I didn't see them. Unfortunately I instantly regretted to risk this second of focus as a sticky, white thing wrapped around my feet, making me fall to the ground and rolling over until I landed on my back.

I groaned when the Winter Soldier pinned my arms above my head and spoke through the comms. "Got her"

I kneed him in the stomach and quickly cut the webs with a knife of his. I punched him in the jaw, but before I could do any more damage, the Falcon pulled me away and lifted me into the air, but only two or three meters, so I would easily survive the fall.

And with that thought in mind, I kicked his wing as hard as I could, making him loose balance. I quickly punched his face and he had to let me fall.

I felt a painful sensation in my right ankle as I hit the ground, but ignored it and somehow managed to run.

Sadly for me, the other Avengers had caught up with us and were now surrounding me. Before I could do anything, the Winter Soldier tackled me to the ground, pinning my arms above my head again and the Black Widow fixated my legs.

I scowled at them, feeling extremely uncomfortable to lay on my back and being completely defenseless. I struggled under their grip, however had no chance against the two assassins. My actions only resulted in tightening their grip and causing an immense amount of pain to shoot through my ankle.

"Check the scar" Iron Man demanded.

How the hell do they know about the scar?

The soldier grabbed my chin, holding my wrists in his metal hand, and forced my head to turn to the right side, exposing a relatively small scar on the left side of my neck.

"It's her" he confirmed and the Avengers looked relieved. Imagine they'd have the wrong girl.. I thought. Unfortunately for me, they did not.

I squirmed, even more uneasy than I already was. He let go off my chin and I growled at him. "Fuck off!"

"I'm sorry, no can do" Iron Man answered for him. I could hear a hint of gratification in his voice, as if he would enjoy seeing me struggle under them.

Black Widow deliberately put pressure on my hurt ankle and I whimpered in pain, but remained a devastating look on my face.

"That doesn't look good" she stated as if she was worried, concerned about it.

"It's nothing. And why'd you care anyway?" I hissed.

She again pressed on my ankle and I let out a pained breath, causing her to send me an accusing look and I clenched my jaw.

Captain America approached me, a small syringe in his hand. "Hold her" he said as I tried to break free.

The Winter Soldier turned my head again and I thrashed around frantically, the rest of the Avengers just standing there, watching the scene.

"Nononono! That's cheating!" I exclaimed, however it didn't help me as the Captain swiftly inserted the liquid into the unshielded skin of my neck.

"Oh shit"

"Sleep tight, sweetheart" Iron Man teased as I fell limp and my eyes flutter closed. A calming darkness swept over me, taking me with it into peaceful unconsciousness.
