I opened my eyes, giving my body the time to adjust to the bright lights and clear my blurry vision. I quickly took in my surroundings, just to notice I was laying on an actually pretty cozy bed in a glass cell. There were two doors, one of them had milky glass, probably a bathroom.
I tried to stand up, but stumbled since I could walk as straight as a circle. It looked like whatever they injected me with, still hadn't fully worn off yet.
Why the hell did they kidnap me?! Oh wait- yeah, presumably because of my powers. I was able to shape shift. I could shift into animals, but only felines, since HYDRA only crossed my DNA with felines DNA. No idea why.
After a few minutes, most things in my body went back to normal, but that also meant i could feel my aching ankle and my neck hurt where the syringe entered me.
I examined my ankle to notice that they wrapped it up, stabilizing it with a professional looking bandage. However when i tried to feel my neck, I felt a collar around it. What the hell?
I tried to get rid of it, but nothing worked, so I eventually gave up. I was exhausted, had a headache and my body felt like there was not even a single drop of water left in.
I was sitting on the bed, as the doors opened and a dark skinned man with an eyepatch walked in the room with my cell, followed by the famous Tony Stark and the lovely Black Widow.
I jumped up, walking to the glass wall and ignoring every pain. They just sat down and everyone observed each other for a few seconds.
"How's your ankle?" Stark asked.
"Fine, don't think I'll thank you for wrapping it," I snapped.
"I actually didn't think that," he replied and we stared at the other.
"Let's talk business," the eyepatch man said firmly and my eyes wandered to him. "I'm director Fury, this is agent Romanoff and I believe you know Mr. Stark," he introduced.
I just crossed my arms over my chest.
"We know you have the ability to shape shift. How'd you get it?" He continued.
"I won't tell you shit," I growled, but they looked unfazed, which was not exactly helpful due to the fact I was panicking as hell inside and if anxiety was a human, it would be me right now.
"Your cooperation will make this easier," he stated calmly.
"I don't care," I replied dryly.
He sighed inaudible, but my ears picked it up. Black Widow pulled out a small device, like a tiny remote and pressed a button. I immediately felt a strong electrical shock and cringed involuntarily.
"How did you get your powers?" He asked again.
"Fuck you," I growled deeply and earned a second shock from the collar.
"Fix your attitude."
"Fix your eye!"
Another shock that forced me to my knees, panting heavily. The others seemed to notice that I was in pain, not only through the shocks, and Stark said," JARVIS, get Banner here."
I furrowed my eyebrows. Who is he speaking to? But then I jumped slightly as someone responded.
"Of course, sir. Doctor Banner is on his way."
I figured it was an artificial intelligence that kind of controlled the tower, like an assistant for everything.
A minute later, the Hulk in his Banner form entered the room with some medical supplies. "How can I help?" He asked.
"Could you check on her, she seems a bit... not overly well," Stark said and the doctor nodded, walking to the door with the Black Widow.
I watched them carefully entering the cell and Banner placed his bag down. He looked a little intimidated by me, but tried to hide it.
"May I check on you?" He asked kindly and I narrowed my eyes, backing away only a step.
"No. I'm fine."
"Don't be silly, kid," Stark said.
"no," I insisted.
"Too bad for you, you don't have a choice," Black Widow shrugged and I rolled my eyes, knowing I couldn't fight them with the drug in my body.
I had to sit down on the bed as Banner took some blood, checking my vitals and ankle. He handed me a water bottle, which I was incredibly happy about, but of course didn't show it.
"And we're already done," he smiled warmly.
The adults left, leaving me behind in the cell alone, so I used the opportunity to go back to sleep.
Nat's pov:
I knew she was just acting strong and cocky. She was like me a few years ago. Hiding the true feelings behind facades.
I didn't need to be a highly trained super spy to see that she was completely done. And I quite frankly, I couldn't exactly blame her. We all looked at her through the monitor in the common room.
"Is she out?" Stark questioned surprised.
"Yup," Bruce confirmed. "I can see if a person is asleep or just pretending to be."
"So what are we gonna do with her? She's hard to crack," Tony asked, looking at the three of us.
"She'll stay here for a while. She's save here and I want to recruit her, not now but she could be a valuable asset to the team," Fury shared his thoughts with us.
"That's good, we can introduce her to Wanda, Kate and Yelena. Peter and Pietro as well later," I suggested. I thought she would be more comfortable with girls her age around her.
"Do anything you think is right, just don't remove the collar, we can't trust her yet. I need to go now," Fury said and made his way to the elevator.
"She'll open up somewhen," Tony shrugged.
"She's hurt and tries to be confident to survive. It's kind of a natural instinct of the human. Y/n just needs time to get comfortable and feel safe around us, which may gonna take a while considering we didn't make the best impression," Bruce explained and we nodded.
"So how's her health?" I asked.
"Not as bad as it looks. We got this thing with the ankle, but besides that she's just malnourished and needs a proper diet to get back all the needed vitamins," he shrugged and I smiled relieved at the thought that she wasn't seriously injured.
"Nice, so feisty stays with us and hopefully becomes the next member of the club," Tony clapped. "Imma go to bed, we can discuss everything tomorrow."
