In the next morning, I was in an enthusiastic mood and immediately rushed into the common room. I even shifted into a cheetah to get there faster.

I accidentally knocked over Clint, but I just kept running until my paws slid over the smooth floor and I crashed into the kitchen island, making the Avengers who were already there jump up.

"Y/n! Are you okay?" Wanda exclaimed when I shifted back.

"Ya," I croaked out. "Ah, dammit." I got to my feet, stumbling slightly and ignoring the looks of the others.

"What the hell was that?" Tony asked flabbergasted.

My mood instantly changed again and I smiled at them widely. "We got a mission today!" I exclaimed. I was so happy to finally get out of the tower and do something.

"No y/n. We got a mission. It's too dangerous for you," Steve said, making my jaw drop.

"Wha- why? That's not fair! I want out of here, I want to do something!" I complained, almost like a toddler.

"I said no," he insisted and I pouted, crossing my arms and sending him a glare.

"Dad mode; activated," Bucky chuckled at his best friend, who rolled his eyes.

"I agree with Steve, I'm sorry, but this is too dangerous for you," Nat told me.

"You're not my parents!" I rose my voice. "You can't decide over me!"

"Apparently, you don't have parents and since SHIELD took you in and made you an Avenger, we are your guardians for now, which means we can very well decide over you," Steve smirked and mimicked my posture.

I let my arms drop to my sides and looked at him disapprovingly. "That's not fair.." I muttered under my breath and turned around in defeat, accepting not to go on the mission.

But that doesn't mean I accept to stay at the tower. I smirked to myself as I walked back to my room, ignoring the question from Nat if I wanted breakfast. They finally gave me my own room, since I was now an official Avenger and they took off my collar as well. That means they won't even know I would've been out of the tower when they'd come back.

Half an hour later, the quinjet took off. I instantly took a backpack and some money and went into the elevator.

"Main exit, please JARVIS," I told the AI.

"I don't think you're supposed to leave the tower on your own, y/n."

"JARVIS, don't be a pain in the ass. I'll be fine. I'm just done with being trapped inside here," I assured.

"If you say so. Have a good day y/n," the AI replied and I smirked satisfied.

Before I stepped out, I quickly added, "Oh and don't be a snitch, okay? Don't tell the others, especially not Steve and Nat."

Luckily, none of the guards on the exit stopped me, since they probably had been informed that I was an Avenger now. A few seconds later, I finally stepped outside and just stood there for a moment, taking everything in.

I felt the soft wind in my face, heard the people and vehicles, smelled the familiar scent of New York. I actually couldn't believe it at first. I couldn't remember the last time I was outside, at my own, not on the run. The most freedom I've got was two months ago, when I escaped HYDRA and was on the loose for almost one week. Didn't last long, but it felt nice.

I decided to go to a cafe, since I didn't have breakfast. I just sat down at the window, so I could look at the city whilst eating.

"Hi, what can I get you?" The waitress asked politely and I was overwhelmed for a second.

The only experiences I had with normal people happened when I was on the run from HYDRA and as I said, it didn't last long. I stared at her for a moment, unsure what to reply, but then ordered an orange juice and a piece of cake.

After a few minutes she came back, serving my order. "Here you go. Can I do anything else for you?" She asked and I, again, was quite overwhelmed at how friendly she was. "Uh, n-no, thanks," I stuttered.

I never experienced people who were so kind to me. She had a smile on her face, walking through the cafe as if she had no worries. Sometimes I wished HYDRA had never found me, never experimented on me, never tortured me. But on the other hand, if that wouldn't have happened, I would've never met the Avengers, which were like family to me now.

I guess everything has some good points and some bad points. And I had to admit, I liked my animal form. It was a part of me and I grew fond of it with the time. It actually was very useful in certain situations.

However, I finished my breakfast and made my way through the crowded streets of New York, stopping at a few shops and admiring everything.

Somewhen, I ended up in a park and saw the happy families, the happy children playing with each other. For a moment, I felt sad, but I didn't want to think about the bad things right now, so I just enjoyed the view.

Everything was great. Oh yeah well, did I forget to mention?

Everything was great, until some certain men in black uniforms with a skull logo on them approached me. Haha how fun.

I rolled my eyes annoyed and stood up to face them. I instantly spotted their various weapons and saw that I was highly outnumbered. The only chance of getting out was running, since shifting wasn't an option.

"Not now guys, I'm having a moment," I said.

"Too bad we don't care, honey. How 'bout you come with us and we make a little trip, huh?" One of them asked sarcastically.

"Nah, I'm good, thanks though."

"The boss misses his little experiment. I bet he would be happy to have you back, don't you think?" Another joined the unnecessary conversation.

"Take her." oh shit.

I tried to run away, but was quickly grabbed by two strong built men, who held me with an iron grip.

"If you even make one little beep, we will have to kill everyone that heard or saw us. And we won't stop for children, just so you know. If you even dare to make the faintest noise, you'll be responsible for their deaths," a HYDRA agent threatened, but I knew they would really do such thing.

I remained silent as they started walking and I didn't fight. They wanted me back and they wouldn't let themselves be stopped by a few annoying bystanders.

Oh hell, what did I get myself into?
