I hate the hospital

Siobhan was holding the little boy's hand as they made their way down the hallway.

"Is she going to be okay?" He asked, looking up at her with tears in her eyes. Her heart clenched as a breath got caught in her throat.

"Yes, she's going to be okay. I promise, Jamie." Vivian said, squeezing Soibhan's other hand and looking at her son. Siobhan gave her s grateful smile. Vivian was slowly breaking down the hard shell she had put herself in over all these years.

They had come to the hospital to visit Charlotte and Felicity. Jamie and Felicity had gymnastics together and when Siobhan got the news of what happened, she was with Vivian and poor little Jamie had heard everything.

After much pleading from his side, they agreed to go let him see his friend, once her mother had given the okay. and that's how they were walking down the hospital hallway, nearly a week after the accident.

Soibhna and Vivian had not even shared a kiss, but they were so much closer than she and Roger ever was. Vivian made her feel seen. Siobhan never had someone who cared for her before, someone who really, truly cared as Vivian does.

As they turned the corner, they saw Charlotte and Mia standing outside the room. Charlotte's wound on her head was healing nicely, and Mia had no visible injuries, but her ribs were still slightly bruised.

Charlotte was very surprised when Siobhan called her to ask her how she, Mia and her girls were doing. She nearly chokes on her saliva. She had never cared before, but when she saw Siobhan walking down the hall, holding hands with Vivian, she now knew why.

"Soibhan, Vivian, hello. Hi Jamie." Charlotte leans down to greet the small boy.

"Is CeCe okay?" he asks her, and she has to hold back tears.

"Yeah. She's okay, you can go sit next to her if you want." She says, and he nods as fast as his little head can. Mia then takes his hand and the two of them go in to see her.

"Is she really okay?" Vivian asks. Charlotte's eyes brim with tears as she bites her lip.

"No." She chokes out before taking a deep breath.

"What happened?"

"We were crossing over, our light was green. A drunk driver skipped the light and hit their side of the car. Mia made it out okay, just a broken rib and a few bruised ones. But... she, wasn't so lucky. The impact caused her ribs to puncture her lung and... she is slowly drowning in her own blood. She is going in for surgery later. They have her on oxygen to make sure she is still breathing properly. I am so scared for her."

Siobhan never had children of he own, but in her... relationship?... with Vivian she had grown attached to Jamie, as she didn't think she could be able to handle it. She couldn't even imagine what Charlotte was feeling.

Around two hours later, the doctors came to get Felicity for her surgery. It could take up to 6 hours, but they can not say for sure.

"Char, sweetheart. Please go home and get some proper sleep, I'll stay here and wait for some news okay." Mia tried to get Charlotte to sleep a little, but she wasn't going to.

"I can't Mia, I am so scared. I can't lose my little girl." She wanted to cry, but she had no more tears left.

"Besides, I can't sleep without you there." She admitted. Mia leaned in close and kissed her on the forehead. Mia then placed her arm under her fiance's legs and lifted her before sitting down and placing her on her lap.

"I love you" she whispers in her ear as Char snuggles her face into Mia's neck, relaxing for the first time in almost two days. Barely two minutes later, she could feel Charlotte's breath slowing down, and Mia knew she was asleep. She smiled softly, before resting her head on Char's and also drifted off to sleep.

It all happened in slow motion.

Charlotte was smiling at Mia as they drove. Looking over at her Fiance as Mia's hand rested n her thigh.

That's when she saw the light of the other car. Her eyes widened and she opened her mouth to scream, but it was too late. The impact from the crash was enough to give her whiplash.

It felt like she was flying, but not in a good way. The cash had broken the front windshield, and Char just closed her eyes in fear of the glass... or in fear of seeing what was happening. If she couldn't see it, it wasn't happening.

When she stilled, she opened her eyes. The car was still on its wheels, but they were not facing a different direction. They had spun. She looked over at Mia, but she wasn't there. Her seatbelt was cut, but the door wasn't open. She tried calling for Mia, but she couldn't say a single thing.

She pushed open her door but was caught by her seatbelt. She tried to unclip it, but it wasn't budging. She kept trying and trying until it finally sprung loose. She jumped out and nearly pulled off the back door. Both her girls were okay.

They were okay...

She nearly falls off Mia's lap as she wakes up. If Mia wasn't holding her so tight, she would have.

"Hey, hey sweetheart. It's okay. You're okay." Mia's voice rings through her ears, and her breathing starts calming.

"Felicity? Is she..." Just as Charlotte is about to ask, the doctor walks into the room.

"I have very good news. The surgery went perfectly. We had to do minimal cutting, there might not even be a scar. We could patch up her lung and she should be able to go home in a week. We just want to keep her under our watch to make sure it holds."

Both Mia and Charlotte start crying as they hear the news.

She's okay.

"Your little girl is a real fighter there."

Mia smiled as she looked over at Charlotte. Giving her a quick kiss, holding her even tighter.

"Just like her Mom."
