TW - Blood
Marjorie and Reece were enjoying a quiet evening at home, the kind of calm, peaceful night they'd been looking forward to. The living room was dimly lit, with soft, ambient lighting creating a cosy atmosphere. Reece was lounging on the couch, flipping through channels on the TV while Marjorie sat comfortably in an armchair, her feet propped up on a soft ottoman.
Marjorie had been feeling a bit off for a while, but she tried to brush it off as normal pregnancy discomfort. However, as the evening wore on, a sudden sharp cramp made her wince. She shifted uneasily in her seat, trying to find a comfortable position. That's when she noticed a troubling sign—she was bleeding.
Her heart sank as she felt a rush of panic. She tried to remain calm, but the sight of blood was unsettling. She took a deep breath and turned to Reece, who was absorbed in the TV. "Reece," she said, her voice trembling slightly. "I think something's wrong. I'm bleeding."
Reece's head snapped up, instantly noticing the worry in Marjorie's eyes. He dropped the remote and hurried over to her side. His face turned pale with concern. "What? Okay, we need to get to the hospital right away."
Without wasting another moment, Reece helped Marjorie to her feet and quickly grabbed her coat. The urgency in his movements was palpable as he guided her out to the car. He drove with a mix of desperation and care, navigating through traffic with a heightened sense of urgency. Marjorie tried to steady her breathing, but the unease was palpable.
They arrived at the hospital and rushed inside. The medical staff, trained to handle emergencies, immediately assessed Marjorie's condition. Her heart pounded with every step as Reece stayed by her side, his own anxiety mounting.
After a brief examination, the doctors determined that Marjorie needed an emergency C-section due to complications. Reece's anxiety reached new heights as he watched Marjorie being wheeled away to the operating room. He felt a pang of helplessness, wishing he could do more to support her.
As Marjorie was prepped for surgery, she cast a worried glance back at Reece. Despite the chaos, she managed a weak smile, trying to comfort him as much as he was comforting her. The doctors and nurses were efficient, working swiftly to prepare for the procedure.
As Marjorie was whisked away into the operating room, Reece felt a surge of panic and helplessness. His mind raced, and he knew he needed support from those closest to them. With a shaky hand, he pulled out his phone and dialled Autumn's number, hoping to find some comfort and guidance.
"Autumn, it's Reece," he said, his voice tight with stress. "Marjorie's been taken into emergency surgery. She's bleeding, and they've had to do a C-section. I'm at the hospital, and I'm really worried."
Autumn's voice, always calm and composed, offered a reassuring counterpoint to Reece's anxiety. "Oh my God, Reece. I'm so sorry. We'll be there as soon as we can. Just hang in there. I'm sure Marjorie is in good hands."
Reece thanked her and ended the call, his nerves slightly eased by Autumn's comforting words. He then dialled Mia's number, his hands trembling as he tried to stay focused.
"Mia," Reece said when she answered. "It's Reece. I need to let you know—Marjorie's in surgery right now. She's having an emergency C-section. There was bleeding, and they needed to act quickly. I'm really scared."
Mia's concern was evident in her response. "Oh, Reece, I'm so sorry. We're coming to the hospital right away. Just try to stay calm. We'll be there soon to support you."
Reece appreciated Mia's words of comfort, though his worry didn't subside entirely. He ended the call and tried to steady his breathing. The waiting room felt increasingly isolated, each minute stretching painfully as he waited for news.
As Reece paced the room, his mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. He felt an overwhelming sense of responsibility and anxiety, hoping that Marjorie and their baby would come through this safely. His focus shifted to the approaching support of Autumn and Mia, knowing that their presence would help him endure the long wait.
As the waiting room filled with the soft hum of hospital activity, Reece's anxiety remained palpable. He glanced at his watch for what felt like the hundredth time, his mind a storm of worry for Marjorie and their unborn child. Just then, the sound of hurried footsteps and concerned voices drew his attention.
Winter and Autumn entered the waiting room, their expressions reflecting the gravity of the situation. Winter's usually calm demeanour was replaced with visible concern, his eyes searching Reece's face for any sign of what was happening. Autumn, always a pillar of strength, walked beside him, her own worry evident despite her composed exterior.
"Reece," Winter said as he approached, his voice steady but filled with concern. "How is she? What's going on?"
Reece shook his head, struggling to keep his composure. "They're still in surgery. They had to do an emergency C-section. I'm just waiting for any news."
Winter nodded, placing a comforting hand on Reece's shoulder. "We're here for you. If you need anything, just let us know."
Autumn, usually reserved in her emotions, reached out and gave Reece a warm, supportive hug. "You're not alone in this. We'll wait together."
As Reece and Winter talked quietly, Mia and Charlotte arrived at the hospital. Charlotte's face was pale, and her usually bright eyes were shadowed with worry. She was leaning on Mia, who offered her silent support while carrying a visible concern.
"Mia, Charlotte," Reece greeted them, his voice a mix of relief and lingering anxiety. "Thanks for coming. Marjorie's in surgery. They had to act fast because of some complications."
Mia wrapped her arms around Reece, offering a comforting embrace. "We're here for you, Reece. We'll get through this."
Charlotte, though visibly shaken, took a seat beside Reece. She reached out and touched his hand, offering silent solidarity. "We'll stay here with you. Just let us know if there's anything we can do."
The group settled into a tense silence, their collective concern forming a strong, supportive presence. Winter and Autumn took seats beside Reece, and Mia and Charlotte positioned themselves across from them. The room was filled with hushed conversations and the occasional quiet tear as they all waited for the news.
The atmosphere was thick with anticipation. Winter, Autumn, Mia, and Charlotte exchanged glances of shared worry, each person reflecting on the gravity of the situation in their own way. The comforting presence of friends and family provided a small but significant respite from the overwhelming anxiety that Reece felt.
As the hours passed slowly, the hospital staff continued to move around the waiting room with a sense of purpose, each one adding to the hope that everything would turn out well.
Charlotte was seated beside Mia, her hands resting lightly on her rounded baby bump. She had been feeling a bit off throughout the day, but she attributed it to the stress of being at the hospital. The room was filled with soft murmurs of conversation and the occasional shuffle of hospital staff passing by.
Suddenly, Charlotte felt an unusual warmth and a sudden, sharp gush of fluid. Her eyes widened in shock and she quickly glanced down, realizing with mounting alarm that her water had just broken. A small, startled gasp escaped her lips.
Mia, noticing the change in Charlotte's demeanour, turned to her with a concerned expression. "Charlotte? Are you okay?"
Charlotte tried to remain calm but felt a growing sense of urgency. "I... I think my water just broke,"
