Y/n POVWhen we made it back to the church, things were quiet. I didn't want to leave Maggie's side for many reasons. She stayed quiet. It was time for the funeral. We brought a boy back that cried just as hard as Maggie.
"We look not at what can be seen, but we look at what cannot be seen. For what can be seen is temporary...but what cannot be seen is eternal. For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building for god a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." Gabriel said, we did the rock thing over Beth's grave.
It felt weird to bury someone so young. Beth was so beautiful and kind. She was so full of life and what had happened back there wasn't her fault. She should have never died like that.
But she is in a better place, with her mom, Hershel and her siblings. And we were going to live for her. Because what she needed. That's what she would have wanted for us.
...
Noah, was the boy. He was a smart boy. He was super sweet as well. And now we were going to Noah's old neighborhood.
It was Glenn, Rick, Michonne, Noah and Tyreece. Tyreece and Noah were in the front with Michonne and Rick in the second half of the car while Glenn and i were in the very back.
I felt bad for leaving Maggie but i knew the others would watch after her. She was the one that told me i needed to go. I trusted her with Evie and maybe being around her could help her feel better.
"How far out?" Rick asked Noah as he looked up in the front. It felt good to be back with Rick and Michonne.
"About five miles" Noah said as he leaned over to get a better look.
"Hey Carol" Rick said into a walkie talkie.
"I'm here" Carol answered back quickly.
"We're halfway there. Just wanted to check the range." Rick said, which meant he was worried about everyone.
"Everybody's holding tight. We've made it 500 miles. Maybe this can be the easy part." Carol answered back, her voice was calm.
"Got to think we're due. Give us 20 minutes to check in." Rick said to her.
"We don't hear from you, we'll come looking." Carol said, i smiled a little at the way this group always took care of eachother.
"Copy that" Rick told her.
"I've been wanting to tell you something" Noah said as he looked over to Tyreece. I felt Glenn give my thigh a comforting squeeze and i leaned into him.
"What's that?" Tyreece asked as he gave a quick glance Noah's way.
"The trade. It was the right move. It worked. It did work. Just something happened after." Noah said, I didn't know what they were talking about because I wasn't there.
All I knew is that Beth went to kill the lady in charge and the lady shot Beth in the head. It was an accident that's what she said, but you don't accidentally kill someone.
"It went the way it had to" Tyreece said as he kept his eyes on the road. "The way it was always going to."
"I never wanted to kill anybody before." Noah said, I felt a little weirded by the statement. There has been some couple of people I've wished death upon.
"I've wanted that. But it just made it so I didn't see anything expect what I wanted. I wasn't facing it." Tyreece said, I quietly listened to their conversation.
"Facing what?" Noah asked wanting Tyreece to go on.
"What happened, what's going on. My dad always told Sasha and me that it was our duty as citizens of the world to keep up with the news. When I was little and I was in his car, there were always those stories on the radio. Something happens 1,000 miles away or down the block. Some kind of horror I couldn't even wrap my head around. But he didn't change the channel. He didn't turn it off. He just kept listening. To face it. Keeping your eyes open. My dad always called that paying the high cost of living." Tyreece said, I listen to his words. His dad must've had his reason for making them do that.
"I lost my dad in Atlanta" Noah said. "I think he would have liked yours. Still got a mom and a couple of twin brothers. I hope." Noah said with a worried smile.
"I hope so, too" Tyreece said. I really did hope Noah would be with his family again. He deserved it. We needed something good to happen to us in these fast few days.
"Two more miles." Noah said as he looked back at Rick.
"All right" Rick said as he nodded his head. "Let's pull into the woods. We'll go on foot. Stay off the road." Rick said as he tapped Tyreecees shoulder.
"We don't need to." Noah said as he tilted his head to look back at Rick.
"Just in case." Rick said, Tyreece drove the car through a clearing in the woods.
We got out of the car and parked it. I stretched a little and looked over at Glenn who gave me a weak smile. The lost of Beth was really tearing us down. I tried not to think about it so much though.
"This is good. Through the trees, it might just look like we're part of the wreck" Rick said as we looked around to the scatter of cars. I turned around when I saw a walker banging on one of the cars inside.
"It's this way" Noah said as he pointed to the back of us. We nodded and followed after Noah who was still limping.
It was nice walk through the woods. I took the lead in front next to Noah. I stoped a little when I saw a little line. It looked like some sort of trap. Come on.
