"Do you think that's smart? These people have no idea what they are doing" Glenn said, we were in a room upstairs trying to put Evie down. Since we were all still together we let the little ones have their own room. But when it was night time we were all together."I mean what else do these people have?" I asked as I gently rocked our daughter into sleep. "The most it will be a day, we will leave early in the morning. I'll show her how to kill a Walker, collect some stuff and we will be back" I said as I shrugged.
"I don't know. I don't want to risk you getting hurt. I'll come with" Glenn said as he placed his hand on my shoulder. I looked at him and kissed his cheek.
"I got this handled. Stay here. They're gonna need you here" I said as I looked down at our daughter. She cooed and hold out her hands. She was far from getting any sort of sleep.
"I don't think she's gonna go to sleep any time soon" Glenn said as he laughed as he looked down at her. I booped Evies nose and she let out a small giggle.
"Neither do I. Evelyn Rhee go to sleep" I said as I looked at her sternly. She clapped her tiny hands and giggled. I sighed knowing that there was no use.
The one thing that I didn't appreciate about the apocalypse was that you could never tell the time. All we knew that it was getting dark outside and there was no way of telling if it was Evie's true bedtime. Then again, what would even be her bed time?
"Did you talk to Daryl?" Glenn asked as he looked at me. I took a seat on one of the nearby rocking chairs in hope Evie would take that as a sign.
"Why? Did he say something?" I asked as I looked up. I haven't seen Daryl around since the fight earlier today. I didn't even see him stomping around.
"I don't know. He stormed off after Rick and you got the new role" Glenn said as he leaned against a wall. A pain of guilt shot through me. I knew why he was upset.
"I haven't even seen him around. Plus I've been distracted with everything I didn't think it would be possible to even make time" I sighed as Evie let out a much needed yawn. "There you go, let sleep take you" I said as I slowly placed her in the crib.
"Look at us go" Glenn said as he kissed my forehead. I looked at him and rolled my eyes. He literally watched me the entire time.
"Wow you're so helpful" I said with a small laugh. We watched as Evie let sleep take her and she was out. We both smiled at her and slowly walked out of the room and closed the door.
"We did it" Glenn said as he wrapped me in a hug and kissed my neck softly. I smiled as I hugged him back. I let myself relax in order for what was going to happen next. Finding Daryl.
I walked around the house, everyone was doing their own thing. I made it to the living room and it was dark out. The porch light was on and I saw Daryl sitting on the step. Before I could make it to the door Carol stopped me.
"I'm worried about him" Carol said as she hugged herself. She was always worried about Daryl. I didn't blame her. I nodded my head as we both looked at Daryl.
"So am I." I mumbled as I looked out. He was sharping a stick into a knife. He knew this wasn't safe. It almost seemed like everyone was giving up and he was the only one staying strong. "I'm gonna go talk to him" I said as I walked out of the door.
I took a seat next to him. He didn't even look up he contuined to use a knife and cut into the wood. I pulled my knees to my chest and wrapped my arms on top of my legs and sat my head on it. There was a nice cool breeze outside and it felt good.
"How's everything going?" I asked him as I finally broke the silence. It was a stupid question but I didn't have anything else to say. I wasn't go to the deep stuff this early into the conversation.
"Fine" Daryl grunted. I sighed. I knew I wasn't going to get anything good out of him.
"What about Rick? You think this is a good choice?" I asked as I pressed myself farther on. I knew he couldn't shut me out forever.
"Ain't about me bein fine with it. Rick's just doin what he thinks is right for the group. He tryn to keep us safe" Daryl grunted as he contuined to sharpen the knife.
"So you trust Rick?" I asked him. I trusted Rick. I'm pretty sure the whole group did. I just didn't know how Daryl felt. About everything.
"Yeah. I just don't want him forgetting who we are. And what we've been through" Daryl said as he looked up outside. Everyone was asleep and there was no one out on the quiet streets that were once filled with people.
"He won't. We have been through to much to forget about what we've been through. He wouldn't do that to us." I said as I leaned my head on his shoulder. He tensed before he relaxed.
"I know" Daryl said before he put the stick down. I smiled softly.
"We made it" I said with a soft smile as I pulled away and looked at him. "We survived." I said with a smile. It was true. We had made it this far. With the people will love and even got to call them family.
"I love you Daisy" Daryl grunted, I smiled at the old nickname. My old self. That was still around.
"I love you too asshole" I said with a smile. I leaned on him again and I felt him kiss the top of my head.
