"Welcome to your new reality, Avni," he sneered, his smile cold and calculating. "Ooh, my bad... Your Highness."
His words sent a chill through me, but I refused to let fear show. I straightened up, trying to look more confident than I felt, forcing myself to meet his gaze. Whatever twisted game he was playing, I wouldn’t let him see me break. Not yet. Not when Avivansh was still out there, fighting for me.
"What do you want from me?" I demanded, my voice surprisingly steady, even though my hands trembled slightly.
He chuckled darkly, his eyes scanning me with malicious intent. Then, he leaned in closer, his breath cold against my ear. "For starters, your husband."
The words hung in the air, and a cold knot tightened in my stomach. My heart raced in panic. Was Avivansh aware of this? Had he known about this man all along?
"Who are you?" I asked, trying to control the rising anxiety in my chest. My mind was spinning. If this man had anything to do with Avivansh’s past, this was serious—so much more dangerous than I could have imagined.
He grinned at me, clearly enjoying my discomfort. His expression was smug, like he had the upper hand. "Your husband didn’t tell you about me? Well, how would he? He was just ten years old when he first saw me."
That was the moment it hit me—like a ton of bricks. A sharp, electric shock of realization coursed through my veins. This man, standing before me with that calculating, self-satisfied grin, was Jaswant Sindhiya—the man who had killed Avivansh’s parents. The same man who had ruined his life.
I couldn’t help it. A dry, bitter laugh escaped my lips. I couldn’t stop it even if I wanted to. The absurdity of it all—the anger, the fear, the disbelief—it was all too much.
Jaswant turned toward me, his smirk faltering as he saw the mockery in my expression. "What’s so funny, Your Highness?" he sneered, his voice filled with annoyance.
"You’re stupid," I said bluntly, shaking my head. The irony was too much to bear.
He narrowed his eyes at me, taking a step forward, his patience visibly wearing thin. "What did you just say?" His voice was colder now, a dangerous edge creeping in.
