"In my heart, I knew you still cared. But no one ever knows for sure."

The Guardians spun around as the world around them drifted away in a red haze, revealing a firey hell hole that once was The Collector's sanctuary.

Quill let out a deep sigh. "Damn, why can't it ever be that easy."

"Reality is often disappointing." Thanos walked forward as he revealed himself and Amelia, both very much alive. "That is, it was." Amelia finished his sentence with a smirk.

"Now, reality can be whatever we want." He gestured to Amelia.

Gamora scoffed. "You knew we'd come."

"We counted on it. There's something we need to discuss, little one."

Gamora paused, thinking of her next move. After a quick second, she bent down to pick up her sword with a loud grunt, followed by a soft scream as Amelia lifted her with her energy and floated her towards herself, slowly lowering her down so Amelia could pull her back by her hair, making Gamora weakly wimper.

"Thanos!" The Destroyer yelled as they charged toward Thanos, a blade in each hand.

Before he could advance far enough towards Thanos to do any actual damage, Thanos raised his gauntlet, the reality stone shining brightly, and squeezed his fist shut as he turned Drax into a pile of foam blocks.

The alien-looking girl with two antenas looked horrified as she watched one of her best friends get torn apart in the blink of an eye. Thanos raised his gauntlet to her next, her limbs sprouting off into a string of ribbon.

"Let her go, wicked witch," Quill revealed himself from his spot behind a large pillar. He held out a blaster in his hand as he slowly walked towards Amelia, a look of pure rage and fear in his eyes.

"Peter," Gamora exhaled, a shakyness evident in her voice.

"I told you to go right."

"Now? Really?"

"You let her go!" He spat in Amelia's face, his blaster still firmly pointed at her head.

"Ah, the boyfriend," Amelia smirked.

"No. I'd like to think of myself more as a witch-killing, long-term booty call. Let. Her. Go."

"Peter," Gamora tried to get his attention.

"I'm gonna blow that bitchy smirk off your face."

"Not her."

Peters' eyes flicked back and forth between his lover and Amelia, deciding what to do.

"You promised. You promised." Gamoras voice seemed to be more fear-filled every time she spoke.

Peters's eyes flicked between Gamoras and Amelias one last time, filling with tears before slowly lowering his blaster from Amelias's head to Gamoras.

"You poor girl. You expect too much from him." Amelia taunted. "She asked, hasn't she? Thanos told me all about the soul stone. Do it." Amelia shoved Gamora forward towards Quill's blaster. "Do it!" Ameila screamed.

The Starlords expression seemed to become even more pained as he weighed his options. "I told you to go right." He sighed.

"I love you more than anything." Gamora smiled through the tears streaming down her face.

"I love you too." Quill began to breathe rapidly as he shut his eyes as hard as possible as he reluctantly pulled the trigger. He winced, expecting to hear the sound of the bullet, but slowly opened his eyes when nothing happened. When his eyes opened again, he saw nothing but bubbles floating out of the end of his blaster. His face contorted as the blaster simply disappeared out of his hands.
