When Jack and Ca$h arrived home after school, they found Darren sitting on the bench outside. Seeing that Darren wanted to speak to Ca$h alone, Jack silently went inside leaving them to talk.

She dropped her school bag onto her bed and sat down on the edge with her head in her hands thinking about what Amerie had said earlier. The police needed evidence for an arrest, but Harper couldn't get the evidence because it was on Jayden's phone if he had kept it. Jack presumed he probably had seeing as he liked to document everything and wasn't exactly a master of subtlety or particularly smart.

Later on she was sitting in the living room with Nan, finishing the last few touches on a sketch of Darude while the woman read her book when Ca$h came back from the shops with way more stuff than they needed for a week. Jack put down her sketch pad and got up to help him pack away the stuff while Nan frowned, "are we going into locky-d again?" She asked as the two of them began to put away the shopping. "That's about three years worth of food."

"Nah, I just thought we could use a backup supply of everything." Ca$h shrugged and Jack eyed him suspiciously, knowing exactly what he was thinking because she'd been thinking the same thing for the past few hours; they weren't going to be around for a while. "Plus you go through a can of baked beans a day you gassy bitch." He added.

"Keeps me regular."

Jack chuckled as Ca$h handed her some cans to put away in the cupboard.

"Yeah, well there's an extra loaf of bread in the freezer." He told her, "and you know you don't have to defrost the whole thing, right? Just cut off a slice at a time."

"I'm not a goddamn muppet." Nan scoffed before eyeing her grandson sadly, "You two are always looking after me, but who looks after you?"

"We've got each other's backs, right Dougie?" said Jack, reaching over to pat Ca$h's shoulder, "Plus, I reckon you're going to outlive us all, Nan."

Once they'd finished putting everything away, Jack followed Ca$h out into the hallway when he announced he was going out.

"Oi, mind if I tag along?" She asked. He rubbed the side of his head, sending her a worried look but she just scoffed in response, "I know where you're going and what you're going to do." She told him, "I can help you."

"Jack—"

"Please Dougie, you heard Amerie today, it's Harper's word against their's, unless she can somehow get that video." She reminded him, "I can distract Jayden so he doesn't catch you while you get the video."

He hesitated before sighing in defeat, "Fine. You can come but I'll distract. I don't want to leave you in a room alone with them."

"Deal."

It had been a while since Jack had been in Chook's house or 'The Station' as he called it. It looked mostly the same, with the addition of a few new tags spray-painted on the walls that weren't there last time she was including an orange and yellow cartoon sun with a smiley-face in the middle of it on the hallway wall which made her skin crawl. She hated that nickname.
