Time for the yearly school camp trip had rolled around and Jack was less than eager to say the least. She hated camping and also hated residential trips with her classmates so nothing about this trip was appealing to her. Ca$h took her bag from her and took it over to the bus while she walked over to Malakai who was waving her over to where he was standing with a boy she didn't recognise but presumed was Rowan.
"I want you to meet Rowan," Malakai gestured to the pale boy beside him who nodded to her, "Rowan this is my best friend Jack."
Jack offered him a small smile, "Nice to meet you and finally put a face to the name."
"Yeah, you too,"
Jack looked to Malakai, "Been talking about me?" She questioned and he nodded.
"Only good stuff like your awesome pet duck, the jail thing and that you've got the misfortune of being Spider's girlfriend." Rowan joked, "I honestly have no idea what you see in him,"
She chuckled and shook her head, "He's not that bad when you get to know him,"
"Reckon that's just because he likes you," said Malakai and she rolled her eyes before spotting the boy in question send a snide comment to Amerie as he walked past her.
"Whatever," she waved him off, "So, are you two like together now or what?" She asked gesturing between the two boys who shared a look before nodding in confirmation.
"Cool. Good for you guys," she said before excusing herself and heading over to the bus, passing by Ant who was getting his booze confiscated after his bag was searched. She stepped onto the bus and walked to the back where her brother was, taking the seat in front of him and pulling out her phone and earbuds that she'd had to get after her headphones broke.
She leant her head against the window, letting her tired eyes fall shut while she placed her earbuds in her ears and began to listen to a random song from her playlist before she felt someone sit down beside her and take the earbud from her left ear.
Cracking her eye open she saw it was Spider who placed the earbud in his ear and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her closer so she shifted to lie her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes again.
As the bus began to move she found herself drifting off despite the noise from her classmates around her. She hadn't been sleeping much lately and when she did eventually pass out from exhaustion in the early hours of the morning she'd end up having nightmares and waking up panicking about where she was.
After a little while she felt Spider shift his arm uncomfortably, waking her from her light sleep. She sat forward and took her earbud out, returning it to its case, "Sorry,"
Spider shook his head at her apology and handed her back her other earbud, "Its fine, my arm's just gone dead." He explained, stretching out his arm that had been draped around her lower back to try and get some feeling back in it.
