"I need to ask you something,"
Those were the first words Ca$h heard when he woke up the next morning, reminding him that he'd had to bring Jack into his room the night before after she'd woken up freaking out about what he presumed to be a nightmare or bad dream.
He nodded, rubbing his eyes as he sat up.
"Promise me you'll tell me the truth?" She asked him and he glanced over at her to see a serious expression on her face but her eyes were sad, telling him he knew what she was about to ask him, "Even if you think I can't handle it, or whatever, I need to know the truth."
He nodded, "Fucking oath," he assured her. She swallowed and took a deep breath.
"Was I raped the night of the festival?"
She held her breath as she waited for his answer, watching him grow pale and his expression of confliction as he contemplated lying to her before eventually he nodded.
"Was it Chook?"
He nodded again and without a word she got up and left his bedroom, walking back to her own and slamming the door shut before pressing her back against the wall and sinking to the floor.
"Jackie! What the bloody hell are you doing slamming doors at this time in the morning!" She heard her Nan yell from somewhere in the house and she let out a shuddering sob.
An hour later, when Ca$h emerged from his bedroom he was surprised to see Jack fully dressed and ready for school. He watched her worriedly as she got up from the table, brushing off any crumbs from her clothes from her toast before grabbing her bag from the floor, "Ready to go?" She asked him.
"You sure you want to?"
"If I wasn't sure I would still be in bed," she said before walking past him towards the door but he caught her arm, forcing her to meet his concerned gaze, "Are you okay?"
She nodded, "I'm fine, Dougie,"

When the pair arrived at school they were immediately met with Amerie Wadia staring right at them. She approached and asked to speak to them about what had happened to Harper the night of the festival, evidently the girls had finally made up and talked about what went down.
"It's good that you unlocked the door and whatever but you still let them out her in that car," Amerie said in a lecturing tone as the three sat in one of the back stairwells where Ca$h did most of his dealing. Clearly the girl was feeling very protective over her best friend which was understandable. Jack felt it was a little unfair considering she herself couldn't remember even getting to the car and could barely remember brief flashes of being assaulted but she withheld from sharing her thoughts as Amerie didn't know about that and Jack didn't want her to.
