Two days later and her head was still spinning. Thinking back on it she wasn't even sure what had happened. She'd meant to speak to Malakai about it since there was no way she could tell Ca$h without receiving a lecture but the boy had wagged school the next day so she'd just kept it to herself while it nagged at her mind.
When she spotted him in the pride-flag covered quad when she arrived at school, his absence was quickly explained when she laid eyes on the flowers in his arms and the red balloon in the shape of a heart with the words Will you be my girlfriend Amer written on it.
Noticing Amerie heading through the gates with Darren and Quinni, Jack decided she'd catch up to him later and headed to her locker. Where her brother was waiting for her, having left earlier than her to 'attend to business'.
"Ello-hay to you Adlay," she muttered as she opened her locker and grabbed the book she needed for her first lesson.
"Funny." He responded unamused, "uh, Darren's invited us to their pre-drinks tomorrow."
"Invited us or invited you and you're making me tag along so you can avoid your feelings?" She raised a brow as she closed her locker and leaned her shoulder against it, turning to face him.
"Invited us. They specifically said you're invited too." He rolled his eyes at her, "People do think you're cool you know? Plus I reckon you and Darren would get along."
"How so?"
"You both have my absolute life," he answered without hesitation.
"Ha." She snarked dryly, "Come on, chemistry awaits." She shoved his shoulder and the began to walk in the direction of the science department.

Later that day in SLTs Jack sat at the table by the window with her brother like normal but Malakai didn't join them and sat at the front with Amerie instead. Once the whole class had arrived and settled in their seats Jojo walked in followed by two unfamiliar men, one of whom was dressed in a police uniform, and Woodsy in tow.
"Oh, shit. Five-0. Shelve your pingers Ca$h," Spider called out with a grin, turning to look back at the boy who didn't spare him a glance.
"Shelve your kiddie porn, rock spider," Ca$h quipped back and Jack snickered lightly but her amused expression faded when she accidentally locked eyes with Spider. Her cheeks grew warm and she quickly looked away as did he, turning back to face the front.
"Okay, thank you." said Woodsy as the four adults stood at the front of the room.
"We have to very special guests speaking with you all today," Jojo told them, "I'm told Mr Peterson is a regular visitor at this school and will run you all through some workshops. Whoo!"
