After walking for a while, Spider stopped in a random clearing and popped his finger in his cheek before holding it up in the air while the rest of the class trudged down the small hill, coming to a stop around him.
"All right, guys, let's, uh, let's just rest here. Refuel a bit." He said the confidence he'd had when he took up the role of group leader diminishing a little, "Ant, chuck some muesli bars," he requested holding up his hand.
"Oh, about that." Ant mumbled through a mouthful of muesli and Spider grabbed his face, "Seriously dude? What is wrong with you?"
"What? I faint if I don't eat every thirty minutes," Ant defended himself.
"It's not his fault we're lost," Harper spoke up in the boy's defence. Spider sighed deeply and turned away, glancing around the surroundings. Jack scanned over the area too but all she saw was trees that looked exactly the same as every other tree they'd seen in there.
"I hate that I don't have my phone here," Quinni complained over the other's groans of annoyance, "What time is it? Is it gonna get dark soon?"
Jack pulled out her phone from her pocket to check the time for the girl but Rowan spoke up first, "Uh, judging by the shadows, I reckon it's about 3:00. P.M." He guessed, looking around and a few of the guys whistled, impressed, "My mum made me and my brother do cub scouts." He informed them.
"Uh, when?" Ca$h quipped while Darren mimicked Rowan in a croaky voice.
Noticing she had her phone out, Quinni looked over at Jack in question, "It is in fact 3:00. P.M." she confirmed with a small nod before slipping her phone back into her pocket since she had no signal.
"We need a break." Sasha decided before sitting down on a small log but Zoe shook her head in disagreement, "No we need to keep going." She argued.
Sasha took a deep breath, "Zoe, my feet are killing me. I'm tired and I don't have my Invisalign here so my teeth are going to get all janky and fucked up." She said angrily making Zoe back away.
"Shit, sorry, dude."
"I need a break." Sasha muttered while Missy crouched down behind her and rubbed her shoulders.
The group fell into a momentary silence, nobody really knowing what to do next until Darren spoke up, "Well..."they sobbed dramatically, "...which one of us we gonna eat first?"
Jack felt Spider place his hands on her shoulders and lean down to whisper in her ear, "I'd eat you." She shivered as his breath tickled her ear, ignoring the heat rising up her neck as he pressed a kiss to her jaw.
