When Jack returned home later that day she found her Nan, Ca$h and Roger sitting together at the kitchen table having dinner. Upon hearing her enter, Nan glanced over her shoulder at her, "Ah, Jackie lovely of you to join us, your food is in the microwave so the flies didn't get to it."
Jack nodded and went to retrieve her plate, "Sorry I'm late back, i fell asleep watching a movie at Spider's house." She explained her tardiness as she joined them at the table and Ca$h snorted, "Is that what the kids are calling it these days." He remarked making her roll her eyes.
"His mum was there," she told him, "and she's a complete hell spawn of a woman, by the way."
"How is Spencer?" Nan asked her, sounding overly interested making Jack look at her weird, "he's fine."
"Spencer?" Roger questioned, sounding confused.
"Jackie's boyfriend." Nan told him and the man nodded, "Right."
"Anyway, we were just talking about Roger's warehouse in Matraville," she told her granddaughter who narrowed her eyes at her, "It's residential upstairs."
"You've been talking to Darren," said Jack and Ca$h clicked his fingers, pointing over at her, "That's what I said."
"Bloody hell," Nan sighed deeply, "I talk to Darren regularly. We have a relationship outside of you, you know. We play Words With Friends."
"Cute." Jack hummed.
"You trying to kick us out or something?" Ca$h questioned and Nan tutted, "Don't be a mullet. Of course I'm not." She denied, looking between the pair, "I'm just trying to understand why this isn't something you'd want. Most kids your age would jump at it."
Jack looked down at her plate, pushing the food around with her fork while Ca$h answered, "I don't know. I guess I'd...I'd worry about you. And the money."
"I'm fine." The woman waved off his concerns, "and Roger wouldn't charge you a lot of rent."
"Why is everyone suddenly on one about this?"
"We just want to make sure everything's okay," said Nan worriedly.
"We're fine," Jack shrugged.
"God. How many times do we have to say we're okay—" Just as the words left Ca$h's lips the kitchen window shattered at something was thrown through it causing Nan to scream in fright and Roger to stand up in alarm. Ca$h immediately ran to the window and Jack could hear the sound of tires screeching as she walked around the table to see a brick on the floor, sitting in the pile of broken glass.
"Oh, god almighty," Nan gasped, pressing her hand to her chest and Jack softly placed her hands on the woman's shoulders as Ca$h bent down to pick up the brick, looking furious.
