The next day, after a sleepless night spent crying, Jack was sitting on the ground outside the back of the gymnasium so she wouldn't be seen while she smoked, her sketchbook opened in her lap. Voss had been fired after his actions the previous day with the addition of him calling Woodsy a cunt which meant the Cumlords were rather bitter with the exception of Spider who just seemed depressed which was one of the reasons Jack was hiding from the rest of the school. She didn't want to see him like that knowing she'd caused it. It was for the better and he'd realise that soon enough.
"You've been avoiding me,"
Another reason she was hiding was that it was Malakai's last day, formal was that night and he would be leaving for the airport straight after school.
She lifted her head to look at the boy and nodded, not bothering to deny it, "Yep." She admitted, "I was hoping that if I could avoid you long enough you'd miss your flight and stay."
Malakai chuckled and sat down beside her, "I know you think I'm a little bitch for going but there's nothing for me here." He sighed, "I reckon a fresh start will be good for me,"
Jack nodded and though she didn't like it, she knew he was right; Amerie and Rowan were dating now and she knew it hurt Malakai to see it, "I know." She muttered, "Moving to Switzerland is a bit dramatic but I guess I wish you the best of luck with your new life."
"Thanks." He nodded, reaching over to take her hand when she rolled her eyes, "No, but really thank you, for everything. Thank you for being my friend."
She felt tears prick her eyes as she met his gaze, "Thank you for being mine. It's been nice to not be alone for once, I'd forgotten what it was like."
"Nah, come on you're not going to retreat back into the shadows. You can't pretend to be all mysterious if you're dating a dickhead like Spider," she looked down at his words and he let out a noise of protest, "What? No, he didn't."
She shook her head, "No, I did."
"Why? Because you relapsed?" She stayed quiet, giving him the answer he needed and he scoffed, "That's a mistake."
"I can't drag him down with me,"
"Fuck that," Malakai dismissed, "You made one mistake, stop acting like you're poisonous."
"Malakai,"
"Who's Malakai?"
"Fuck you, you aren't funny." She snapped, "haven't you got a plane to catch?"
