"Peter is like the child i never had."
"Now, Tony, what about Morgan-"
"What about me?"
Everyone in the room turned to see Madeline Stark, the oldest child of Tony stark and the most hidden away from the world.
"Maddy, what are you doing here?" Tony stood up and walked over, opening his arms for a hug.
"School ended two months ago?" She scoffed, shaking her head.
"Where the hell have you been kiddo?"
"Staying with friends. You made it very clear years ago that you didn't want me around." She said, referring to how many times he'd been too busy with Morgan to even acknowledge her presence.
"Sweetie-"
"And now what? Some random kid is the child you never had? What about the child you did have, but didn't want?"
"Now, Maddy, you know that's not true-"
"You know what, i'm going back to Daisy's, this already sucks." She picked up her bag and made her back back over to the elevator.
"FRIDAY lock elevator."
"Dad!"
"I won't have you staying with a random person i've never met before-"
"You've met her! Many times! She's been my best friend since we were four!"
At this point Tony looked like a deer in headlights, and then realised that he did remember her, and also remember that the whole of the avengers were listening to this conversation.
"Let's go to your room, and talk about this-"
"I went to my room, you turned it into a lab!"
"Sorry?"
She sighed and dropped her bags, running up the stairs to find Pepper.
"Mads! You're back!" Pepper said, patting her arm, she knew how uncomfortable Madeline was with hugs. "Wow, you dyed your hair, it looks amazing!"
"Thanks, Pep." She laughed, looking down to wipe a tear.
"I heard the argument, and me and Morgan have a little surprise for you that your dad doesn't know about."
She lead her stepdaughter up to the top floor of the tower, going into what looked like an apartment.
"What is this?"
"Well, you're going to be eighteen in a month, and you'll need more than just your own room, so.. you got a whole floor. All to yourself."
"Really?"
"Yeah, i know there's not much up here so far but that's so that you can pick out all the furniture and everything-"
Pepper was cut off by Maddy hugging her for the first time in years. She gratefully returned the hug before taking a card out of her pocket.
"This is for decorating. It's funded by Tony so.. go crazy, but whatever." She laughed and Maddy thanked her. "Also, i know you're not too keen on your dads team-"
"I'm not."
"But, i was thinking instead of going furniture shopping with me, and us struggling to carry everything in and out of the car and up here-"
"Whatever you're about to suggest, no."
"Take Bucky and Steve. Maybe even Sam."
"But-"
"I'll talk to them for you if you want."
She hesitated for a moment, it would be easier to have someone to help with carrying the heavy stuff.
"Fine. But only one of them!"
"Okay honey. Morgan's at her friends house until 6, you mind picking her up for me?"
"Of course, i just need a car."
"I'll get one of your dads for you to take- and i'll text you the address."
