38 | someones getting fired

Eventually, Madeline stopped crying, and fell asleep, still in her father's embrace.

He carefully leaned her back on to couch, and then decided to get the paint job finished for her, taking a minute to look at the pot, in case more paint needed to be ordered.

Turns out, some of Maddy's packages got mixed up with stuff that Bruce had ordered.

Maddy had been painting every room on her floor with a mixture of toxic chemicals, meant for one of Banner's experiments, that happened to be same texture and colour as blue paint, and came in a similar shaped pot.

Tony immediately called him up, along with Natasha and Bucky, to look after Madeline.

Bucky carried her down to his and Sam's floor, and put her in the guest room that Peter would normally sleep in when he stayed over.

"How did this happen?" Bruce asked, looking around the room and adjusting his literal gas mask.

"I don't know, but someone's getting fired- is that really necessary?"

"Madeline's passed out. From inhaling this stuff, you either need a mask, or you need to leave. We have to quarantine this entire floor." He stated, holding out a mask that Tony reluctantly pulled on.

Natasha was in Maddy's room, gathering her essentials; a change of clothes, her phone, charger, toothbrush, etcetera, and shoved them in a bag before taking them down to the room she was in, only for Bruce and Tony to come in five minutes later and take her to one of the smaller labs.

Maddy spent the next few days unconscious on a hospital type bed, with Banner and Dr Helen Cho running all sorts of tests, trying to figure out how long she would be out for.

She had Tony by her side for as much time as could spend there. Though that wasn't nearly as long as how long Bucky, Peter and Sam - and Alpine - were sitting outside the lab, aswell as Wanda, Yelena, and occasionally Natasha, paying visits multiple times a day.

Thanks to Maddy's little bender, Tony had JARVIS make a file on everything to do with Maddy, and give to the avengers before the search for her. It was just so that they would know where to look, but everyone now felt like they knew her as Maddy, their friend, not just Madeline, Tony's daughter.

Everyone had come to see her at some point, Thor even bought his favourite poptarts with a get well soon card for her.

Steve bought her a cat.

He wasn't really thinking when he bought the kitten, just that Alpine had helped Bucky to feel more at home, and Maddy loved her so much that there was a good chance it would work for her too.

Problem was, that was a day into her mini coma, and multiple days before she woke up. So Steve was stuck with a tiny, hyper, constantly hungry kitten, who was always meowing like she was trying to tell him something.

Even though Steve wasn't the biggest fan of its behaviour, based on Maddy's file, this would be the perfect cat for her.

Yeah I'm struggling to write character interactions so she's in a COMA💜 but it's fine she's gonna wake up with a cat and the cat and Alpine r gonna be besties and yeah I love cats I have a cat he's my baby and i haven't written any of my other ocs with cats so u thought this would be fun😭
