"Kor kor, I want to go toilet," Yu Fang said, tugging on Nathan's hand.
Nathan nodded. "Okay, I'll bring you."
As they walked to the toilet, Yu Fang's sense of unease grew. "Kor kor, I don't like this," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Nathan looked down at her. "What's wrong, Yu Fang?"
Yu Fang's eyes darted around the hallway. "I don't know, but I feel like something's off."
Nathan's expression was reassuring. "Don't worry, Yu Fang. Everything's fine. Let's just go to the toilet and then we'll go back to the others."
But Yu Fang's sense of unease only intensified. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong. "Kor kor, I think we should go back," she said, trying to pull him back.
Nathan hesitated, but then nodded. "Okay, let's go back. But just to make sure, let's check the toilet first."
They quickly used the toilet and exited, but as they turned the corner to head back to the conference room, Yu Fang's instincts screamed at her to hide. She pulled Nathan away into the hiding spot behind the pillar.
"Kor kor, look," she whispered, her eyes fixed on the scene before them.
Nathan followed her gaze, and his eyes widened in shock.
Police officers were closed in, handcuffs at the ready, as they rounded up the families involved in the brawl five days prior. The sound of clicking cuffs filled the air as the officers secured the wrists of each family member.
"You have the right to remain silent," an officer recited, as he cuffed Raymond. "Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."
Richard's face reddened with indignation. "This is outrageous! We're being arrested for a mere family dispute!"
But the officer remained firm, handcuffing Richard alongside the others. "Sir, you're under arrest for your involvement in the altercation."
Deborah dissolved into tears, her voice trembling. "Oh no, oh no, oh no! This can't be happening to us!"
Catherine tried to comfort her, even as she too was handcuffed. "Deborah, don't worry, we'll get through this together."
Natalie's eyes widened in terror as she was also restrained, her body trembling with fear.
The entire group now stood handcuffed, their faces etched with shock, anger, and fear.
Elliot alone remained uncuffed, his expression a mask of concern, but Yu Fang's keen eyes detected a flicker of something else - a glimmer of satisfaction that made her blood run cold.
Elliot rushed forward, trying to intervene. "Officer, please! This is a misunderstanding! They didn't do anything wrong!"
But the officer just pushed him back. "Sir, step aside. This doesn't concern you."
For a second, Yu Fang and Nathan saw Elliot's face fall, and a grin spread across his face. But then, his expression changed back to concern and worry. "No, no, no! You can't do this! They're innocent!"
Yu Fang's eyes narrowed. "Kor kor, did you see that?" she whispered to Nathan. "He was smiling!"
Nathan's eyes were wide with fear. "What's going on, Yu Fang? Why are the police arresting everyone?"
Yu Fang's voice was barely audible. "I don't know, kor kor. I think Elliot has something to do with it."
Meanwhile, at the scene, Meng Qi's face was red with anger as she struggled against the handcuffs. "This is ridiculous! We did nothing wrong! You can't arrest us!"
The officer tightened the cuffs. "Ma'am, please calm down. You're making this harder on yourself."
Meng Qi's eyes blazed with fury. "Harder on myself? You're the one who's making a mistake! Let us go!"
Elliot rushed forward, trying to calm her down. "Auntie Meng Qi, please, don't make this worse. I'll get a lawyer, I'll get this sorted out."
But Meng Qi's anger only intensified. "You! This is all your fault, Elliot! You're behind this, aren't you?"
Elliot's eyes widened in protest. "Auntie Meng Qi, no! I swear, I had nothing to do with this."
But Meng Qi's anger was unstoppable. "You're a liar! I know it's you! You're trying to frame us!"
Yu Fang's eyes remained fixed on Elliot. She knew what she saw, and she knew that Elliot was hiding something.
Just then, the police officer spoke up. "There's one more person to apprehend - Nathan Lim Jia Zheng. Where is he?"
Yu Fang's heart skipped a beat. She knew she had to act fast to protect Nathan. She quickly scanned the area, her eyes locking onto Nathan's frightened face. Without hesitation, she grabbed his hand and pulled him away from the group.
"Come on, Kor kor, let's go," she whispered urgently, leading him away from the scene.
Nathan didn't resist, his eyes wide with fear as he followed Yu Fang. They weaved through the crowd, Yu Fang's quick thinking and agility helping them evade the police officers.
Once they were safely hidden behind another pillar, Yu Fang turned to Nathan. "Kor kor, we have to get out of here. Now."
Nathan nodded, his voice shaking. "What's going on, Yu Fang? Why are the police arresting everyone?"
Yu Fang's eyes darted back to the scene, her mind racing. "I don't know, but I think Elliot is behind it. We have to be careful."
As they caught their breath, Yu Fang's grip on Nathan's hand tightened. She knew she had to keep him safe, no matter what........
