Nathan trudged into the bathroom, exhausted from the horrific events. He turned the taps, expecting a refreshing stream of water, but nothing came out.
"Seriously?" he muttered to himself.
His mother, Catherine, appeared in the doorway. "Ah, sweetie, I forgot to tell you. The water's out too. Must be related to the power outage."
Nathan groaned in frustration. "What am I supposed to do? I'm all sweaty and gross."
Catherine smiled sympathetically. "Use this for now." She handed him a dry shampoo spray.
Nathan took it hesitantly. "Dry shampoo? Really?"
Catherine nodded. "It's better than nothing. Just spray it in, massage it in, and you'll be good to go."
Natalie, his sister, poked her head into the bathroom, with her broken glasses. "Yeah, Nate, it's not the end of the world. We'll get through this."
Nathan sighed and began to use the dry shampoo, feeling a bit like he was in some kind of survival situation. He couldn't remember the last time he'd gone without a proper shower.
As he sprayed the dry shampoo into his hair, he couldn't help but think about how much his life had changed in months. From living with Karen in this house and to now dealing with a power outage and no water...it was like everything was falling apart.
Catherine put a hand on his shoulder. "We'll get through this, Nathan. Together."
Nathan nodded, feeling a small sense of comfort. At least he had his family.......
