Nathan's heart raced as he heard Richard's voice coming from the other side of the door. He had been searching for Karen, but now it seemed he had stumbled upon something much more sinister.
Without making a sound, Nathan hid in the corner of the door, pressing his ear against the wall to listen.
The conversation was hushed, but Nathan's ears picked up every word. A man's voice asked, "So, do we have an agreement, Mr. Tan?"
Richard's response sent a chill down Nathan's spine. "I just want my daughter to be safe!"
The man's reply was laced with malice. "Oh, she will be in our hands."
Nathan's anger boiled over, and he couldn't remain hidden any longer. He burst out from his hiding spot, his eyes scanning the room. Richard sat at a desk, surrounded by papers and flanked by a man Nathan had never seen before.
The man's presence seemed to darken the room, and Nathan's instincts screamed at him to get out of there. But his feet seemed rooted to the spot, his eyes fixed on Richard's guilty expression.
"Nathan, what are you doing here?" Richard asked, his voice trembling.
But Nathan didn't answer. He couldn't. His mind was reeling with questions. What was Richard involved in? And what did they plan to do with Karen?
