The Tans turned to the door, and their eyes widened in surprise as they saw Catherine standing behind Deborah, her two children Nathan and Natalie Lim flanking her. Richard's face immediately burned with anger, his eyes blazing with fury.

Tan Meng Qi, never one to hold back, threw her cane at Nathan, but he dodged it swiftly, his eyes flashing with warning.

"How dare you!" Richard thundered, taking a step forward. "You think you can just waltz in here after what you've done?"

Deborah quickly intervened, placing a calming hand on Richard's arm. "Wait, let's hear them out. They're here to talk."

Natalie stepped forward, her voice firm and gentle. "We don't want to fight. We want to find Karen and bring her home."

Nathan added, his voice firm. "We're willing to work together to make that happen."

Richard's finger jabbed accusingly at Nathan. "You! You're behind Karen's disappearance, aren't you? You've always been a sly one, Nathan Lim."

But before Nathan could respond, Deborah stepped forward, her voice firm. "That's enough, Richard. Nathan is not responsible for Karen's disappearance. We don't know what happened to her yet, and we won't jump to conclusions."

Richard's face twisted in disgust. "You're defending him? After what he's done to our family?"

Deborah stood her ground. "I'm defending the truth, Richard. Nathan is innocent until proven guilty. And even if he wasn't, we need to work together to find Karen, not tear each other apart."

Catherine's eyes welled up with tears. "Thank you, Debbie. We just want to find Karen and bring her home."

Natalie added, "We're willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen."

Nathan's expression remained calm, but his eyes flashed with gratitude towards Deborah. "Thank you for believing me, Mrs. Tan. We need to work together to find Karen."

The tension in the room remained, but Deborah's defense of Nathan had momentarily diffused the situation. For now, the storm had subsided, but the underlying currents of suspicion and resentment still simmered, waiting to erupt again..........
