"I wasn't quite expecting an introduction like that," A familiar voice said behind everyone.
The Supreme Leaders eyes widened with shock that had replaced her newfound pride. Her eyes instead glinted with fury through the confusion. Behind everyone, at the exit, a young man stood, leaning against the pillar of the door.
"Issac?!?" Adeline and Lyris exclaimed with joy.
"He's alive?" The supreme leader bitterly asked.
"Were you trying to get rid of me?" Issac smirked.
"You were on the floor!" The Supreme leader shot back.
"Oh, just like your dragon will be soon," Issac taunted, his hand reaching for the long blade hiding behind the pillar. His fingers gently touching the leathery fabric of the hilt. He could only imagine that Armani had gotten a good head start on climbing the roof to find the dragon.
He'd lost the black blazer jacket, leaving him in a scratched up white button up shirt. His black pants had received a few less threads trailing off. But his boots only seem to have sustained the damage of ash.
He quickly examined the rest of his group, who at least had a change in outfit. He felt like he'd just come out a fight scenes ago. His shoulder blades pain seemed to have numbed a few hours ago.
"Do you really think you can defeat us?"
"Who said it was just me?" Issac inquired, "But I will take responsibility for whatever you feel was wrong about me stopping S'Tarleya from killing my friend.
In those few seconds, a silence filled with tension vibrating off of the Renegades and the S'Keerans. It was a matter of who shot or swung first at the other. But Issac felt different this time as if he was calmer than normal.
Lyris felt a small surge of hope in her heart at realizing he still saw her as a friend. Maybe time had allowed the two to finally mend and heal the rough patches they hated to leave open. Just his words were everything to her more than he would ever know.
Instead of his heart pumping with anger and adrenaline, it was calmed with the rush of confidence and certainty. Maybe Callius's teachings were starting to pay off. His hands gripped the sword hilt, tightly.
His mind was now set on getting the plan he and Armani concocted into full motion. The dragon would be dead sooon, it would finally be an even fight. No more advantages or disadvantages.
That's when an impatient S'Keeran drew the first shot.
