"Mason Graham," Marcus politely greeted the Renegade into his office.

The darkly lit dark teal room contrasted with the rays of sunshine outside. With all types of architecture pasted onto the walls and replicas of starships. A glass cabinet filled with pieces of art from other species.

With the building of the new Starfleet academy next door, there were occasional loud noises of drills. But Mason tried not to be bothered with being called down to meet with Marcus. Considering some sort of important events that happened years ago.

Today, he was supposed to go out to lunch with his wife, a nice Italian restaurant that the Merlin's had recommended. To catch up on lost time from the wars stress and fighting. Just to see her again was enough to put him at ease, even in a nice buttoned up gray shirt that was considered proper.

"You asked to see me?" Mason stood up straight, looking at the Admiral sitting at his desk. Straighter than a toothpick, looking directly at Mason.

"I know you're quite busy this afternoon, but after the course of this war. Many discoveries have been made," Marcus continued, "Please take a seat."

"No, thank you," Mason politely declined, "I'm going to be a lot lazier these next few days and I don't want to start now."

"Fair enough," Marcus replied with, "And congratulations on the final victory."

"Thank you, sir," Mason answered.

"Though, I find that I have other issues to ask. What did you do before you even decided to join the Renegades," Marcus asked.

Mason's memory delved deep into digging into memories of the past. So many laughs and terrors flashed before his eyes. Lying or honesty was becoming increasingly hard to decided between.

Not many people even decided to dive that deep back. But he found himself fixated on different memories that were much happier with less trauma. Moments that would make him laugh and smile all over again just to spend a day back in them.

"How far back?" Mason inquired, knowing it was stupid.

"Just beginnings in Starfleet," Marcus told him.

"I was taken under Commodore Roosevelt's wing for studies in London. That's where I met my wife. And I learned that I didn't want to be stuck studying and wanted to be part of security," Mason explained, "Not too long after I joined the academy, me and Marcia got married. And then not too long after, I was asked by Admiral Callius to be part of his team as a skilled fighter."

"There seems to be a gap though."

"Pardon?" Mason' voice questioned, hiding back fear.

"What exactly did you study just in London? There are records of you going on missions off to other planets in entirely different systems," Admiral Marcus.
