Issac stared across the table at Callius, watching his ever move. He watched how he licked up his fork, and cut delicately into the tomato in the salad. How he took such tiny sips from his blue tinted glass of water (he'd half suspected he'd drink some brandy or wine).
The occasional sound of bird noises from the backyard could be heard. The moon glowing like the sun in the sky, painted with shades of purple and black. Stars pricking the dark sky as they shined through the houses window.
Lyris sat beside Issac, taking a slow sip of her water. She could feel the intensity from Callius and Issac from bouncing off the table. Her father sat on the other side, giving few glances at Issac's mother.
Noticeably, Davina Merlin bit her bottom lip a few times. Issac didn't catch sight of his mothers nervousness, and kept his eyes glued to Callius. He watched as Callius set down his glass, and began to speak.
"How's school for the two of you?" Callius asked, his demeanor calm and relaxed.
"Fine." Issac said, bluntly, taking a small piece of lettuce off his plate and chewing it quietly.
"Good to hear," Callius nodded, "Your sister wanted me to ask you that. She's been wondering how you've been doing without her since she started Starfleet. She's passing through the first exams, and has made some friends," Callius told them.
"Why are you really here?" Issac mumbled under his breath before speaking, clearly, "Tell her it's good to hear she's doing well."
"And I will when I'm expected to leave," Callius told him.
"Expected?" Issac asked.
"Expected." Callius said again.
"Is Addy having a trouble at the acadmey?" Davina asked.
"None to report," Callius gave her a swift smile, which made Issac visibly twitch his eye, "She's not one to be a troublemaker."
Samuel Hawkins took a sip of his glass of brandy, taking it slowly. He stared at Callius, not expecting to see a fifth person at the table. This man had arrived uninvited and claimed to bear news for everyone.
He felt uncomfortable around a high ranking Starfleet Captain. One wrong move could instantly spark a comment or a word out of the man. Samuel could fear the worst was coming from this man.
"Samuel Hawkins," Callius said, "Or what should I call you?"
"Hawkins," Samuel said, quickly.
"Starfleet is quite happy with your work on phaser evolution. It's becoming much more....useable in fighting," Callius said, making eye contact with Samuel. Issac kept a close watch on him, his eyes eyeing the man as he took a sip of his drink.
"Thank you, sir," Samuel said.
"No, you should thank Admiral Marcus," Callius said, "After all he's been helping you after all these years."
