You know me better than I know myself.

I speak, yet you hear the echoes of my

thoughts.

Why hold me captive in Limbo,

When I could reside in your heart?

I must go, even if my words deceive—

For in the end, we are destined to be

together.

Damon watched as Anawin moved across the room, gathering his clothes. The soft light of the room played off Anawin’s skin, spreading a warm glow of limbo that made Damon’s heart beat faster.

The sight of Anawin’s bare back, the subtle strength in his shoulders, and the fluid grace in his movements held Damon captive.

He should have been focused on the dangers ahead, on the looming confrontation in the Main Hall, but all he could think about was how much he needed Anawin in that moment—how much he wanted to pull him back into his arms and lose himself in the comfort of their shared warmth.

Anawin, unaware of Damon’s gaze, removed his night clothes and began slipping into his new attire. Damon’s breath caught.

Anawin’s skin, smooth and inviting, called to him in ways he couldn’t ignore. The urge to forget everything else and simply hold Anawin close was almost overwhelming.

Anawin turned slightly, catching Damon’s intense gaze. He paused, a soft smile playing at the corners of his lips as he realized what Damon was feeling.

“Damon,” Anawin began, his tone light with a hint of amusement, “you’re staring.”

Damon blinked, his cheeks flushing slightly at being caught. But he didn’t look away. Instead, he took a step closer, his eyes locked on Anawin’s. “Can you blame me?” he said with a low and warm voice. “You’re impossible to ignore, especially when you look like that.”

Anawin’s smile widened, a soft blush coloring his cheeks. “We don’t have time for distractions,” he chided gently, though his voice held no real conviction. “We need to prepare.”

Damon closed the distance between them, his hand reaching out to gently trace a line down Anawin’s arm.

“I know,” he murmured, his thumb brushing over Anawin’s wrist. “But I can’t help it. You’re the only thing keeping me grounded right now.”

Anawin’s expression softened, his heart fluttering at Damon’s words. “I didn’t realize I had that effect on you,” he replied, his voice tinged with affection.

Damon smiled, a small, sincere curve of his lips. “You do. More than you know.”

Anawin tilted his head, his eyes searching Damon’s face. “Damon…” he began, hesitating as if unsure how to continue. “You know how much you mean to me, right? How much I rely on you?”

Damon’s hand moved to cup Anawin’s face, his thumb brushing over Anawin’s cheekbone. “I do,” he whispered. “And I hope you know it’s the same for me. You’re my anchor, Anawin. My reason for everything.”

Anawin’s eyes shimmered with emotion as he leaned into Damon’s touch. “You’re too good to me,” he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper.

Damon shook his head slightly. “I’m not good enough,” he countered. “But I’m trying. For you, I’ll always try.”

Anawin felt his heart swell with love, and he closed the small gap between them, pressing his lips to Damon’s in a tender, lingering kiss.

The world outside, the dangers they faced, all faded away as they lost themselves in the moment.

When they finally pulled apart, Damon rested his forehead against Anawin’s, their breaths mingling in the quiet space between them. “We should go,” he said, though his voice was reluctant.

Anawin nodded, but his hand reached out to rest on Damon’s chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart. “Before we do… promise me something.”

Damon lifted his head, meeting Anawin’s gaze. “Anything,” he said without hesitation.

“Promise me you’ll stay close,” Anawin said, his voice firm but tinged with a hint of vulnerability. “No matter what happens out there, I don’t want to lose you.”

Damon’s eyes softened, and he placed his hand over Anawin’s, holding it against his chest. “I promise,” he vowed, his tone sincere. “I won’t leave your side ever again.”

Anawin smiled, reassured by Damon’s words. “Thank you,” he whispered, a flicker of guilt crossing his mind as he held onto Damon.

He knew he had to stay focused on the plan, but in this moment, all he wanted was to savor the time they had together.

Damon pulled Anawin into a tight embrace, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. “You’re not alone in this,” he said softly. “We’ll get through it, one way or another.”

Anawin sighed contentedly, the warmth of Damon’s body providing a temporary refuge from the worries that lingered in his mind.

“I know,” he replied, his voice muffled against Damon’s chest. “As long as we’re together, I can face anything.”

Damon pulled back slightly, gazing down at Anawin with a mix of love and determination. “Then let’s go,” he said, his tone filled with resolve. “Whatever awaits us in the Main Hall, Will make it stop”

As Anawin finished changing, Damon couldn’t help but steal one more lingering look. The way Anawin moved with such quiet grace, the way his clothes clung to him just right—it was enough to tempt Damon all over again.

“You’re making it hard to focus,” Damon admitted with a teasing grin, trying to lighten the mood.

Anawin laughed softly, the sound like music to Damon’s ears. “And you’re making it hard to leave,” he shot back playfully, his eyes twinkling.

Damon’s grin widened. “Then let’s make sure we come back quickly,” he suggested, his voice low and suggestive.

Anawin’s cheeks flushed at the implication, but he nodded, a mischievous smile tugging at his lips. “I’ll hold you to that.”

With their spirits lifted, they turned toward the door, their hands brushing together in a silent promise.
