Patterson turned to Casey. "Battalion 26 to main. I am turning over IC to Battalion 25." He said into the radio.
Casey nodded his head in acknowledgement. "Engine 51. Engine 20.two hose lines each hold that fire back. Truck 81. Squad 3 RIT rescue. Squad 1. Truck 68. Search and rescue find those victims inside. More companies are en route." Then a second flash over. "Damn" Casey said he had a choice to make. "Nobody goes inside." Casey orders. "Emergency. Engine 90. Truck 64 evacuate any way possible we're about to open up the water cannons."
"Battalion 25 come in, this is Captain Loomis. I've found an underground tunnel. We need 3 minutes to evacuate everyone."
"Casey looked at Patterson who looked relieved. "You have 2 and a half. After that I'm opening up the water cannons."
"Copy that. Chief." Captain Loomis said over the radio.
After 2 minutes a bunch of Firefighters and people came running from the side of the building. "All firefighters and alive victims are accounted for." Captain Loomis said over the radio.
"Engine 51. Engine 2o open the water cannons." Casey said.
As 51 returned to the station Casey looked really stressed, that was the first proper stressful call he had. So he got his turnout gear off and headed for his office. it was 5 minutes later Brett came knocking on his door. "Can I help you Brett?"
"Just coming to check on you. You looked stressed." Brett said. "Come on let's lay down for a bit." She said lying down on Casey's bed
"I'd love to. But because of the nature of that last call. District Chief Mullins wants the paperwork done asap." Casey sighs. "Do you know what. I'm going to visit Kidd." Casey then got up and walked out of his office with Brett is pursuit.
he then made his way over to Herrmann. "Hey I'm going to visit Kidd, could you cover me?" Casey asked.
"Of course. You're covered." Herrmann said as Casey pats him on the back.
At Chicago Med Severide and Kidd were talking about baby names. "Kelly if it's a girl I'm fine with calling her Leslie as long as I get to pick her middle name." She said on the phone as a knock came from the door. "Chief what are you doing here?" She asked as the Casey walked in."
"The last call was stressful. So I came to distract myself. Herrmann is covering for me."
As if on cue Casey's radio went off. "Engine 51. House fire *location*"
"Hey Casey." Severide said handing Kidd a bottle of water. "So who's covering Truck and Squad?"
"Cruz is covering Squad and Seager is covering Truck." Casey said
"As in Wendy Seager? Kelly's buddy from OFI and the person who helped me start Girls on Fire?" Kidd asked kinda shocked?
"The very same." Casey said.
"Stella Kidd I never thought I'd see the day, you knocked up." Came a voice no one had heard in years.
"Gabby?" Casey said shocked
"Battalion Chief Matthew Casey." Dawson said. "And if what Brett said was true, you two have a kid together. Congrats on the wedding by the way. I'm happy for you."
"Thanks Dawson." Casey said. "I should be heading back to the station." Casey said heading out.
"Hey Chief." Severide said. "Could I transfer to OFI, while Kidd is pregnant?"
