Destiny

I'm trying to make myself productive. To stay positive. To hang on to reality and not totally lose my mind.

I try to read, to immerse myself just for a little bit in an alternate world someone else created for people like me who wish to escape the cruel reality of life. But the letters keep jumbling and nothing sinks in.

"Elaisha Yuson, you're not really for the sheets, bitch." I growled as I stared up at the ceiling.

I try to make myself comfortable on the couch, wearing a soft satin nightdress like the usual rich woman does with red wine on the table and some fruits, but this is starting to make me insane. If I stay another day like this in this place, I will completely lose my shit.

I changed into a striped terno pajamas and make my way out. Kalat ang mga tauhan nila sa labas, talagang binabantayan ako. Sige lang, umasa kayo sa wala. Akala n'yo tatakas ako? Masaya kayo.

"Sir Hildegard!" I sing as I see him in the kitchen, busy cooking.

But he didn't even glanced at me. Ngumuso na lang ako saka umupo sa stool at pinanuod siya. Halatang gustong-gusto niya ang ginagawa. I really admire those people who truly loves their job and not just because of money.

"Knock! Knock! Tao po! Tao po! Tao po who." I started to drum my fingers on the table and bang my head. "Oh, 'di ba, nakakaputangina."

As expected, I didn't get any reaction from him. I get it. I know. I mean, what I did is really cringe, but I need to divert my attention. I need to entertain myself. I need to talk to someone, someone who understands me.

Napabuga ako ng hangin at tinigilan na rin ang baliw-baliwan at baka mamaya ay matuluyan na talaga ako.

Nagpalumbaba ako, sinusundan ang bawat galaw niya. "Nasaan ang mga boss mo?"

"Sir Lazslo is with Sir Valdigierro while Sir Chen has a secret mission and Sir Valdigierro left early. He will meet some investors today."

I didn't expect that he would answer me. That he will disclose something like that to me.

"Huh? Magaling na ba ang sugat niya? Wala pang dalawang araw iyon ah." Nagsalubong ang kilay ko. "At ikaw? Ano pa ang ginagawa mo dito?"

"To babysit you."

Siguradong inutusan siya ng Boss niya na bantayan ako.

"Really? Sige nga, pagtimplahan mo ako ng gatas."

He just eyed me weirdly, however, he continued to prepare milk for me. He doesn't really get my humour. No one is. No one in this world.

Tumikhim ako habang hinahalo ang gatas, hindi man lamang niya nilagyan ng asukal. Nang tikman ko iyon ay grabe, nadagdagan ng isang taon ang buhay ko. Ang sarap, pang yayamanin ang gatas nila.

"So Lazslo is now his secretary?"

"No."

"Kung gano'n ano? Hindi ba dapat ikaw ang nando'n na kasama niya?"

"Sir Lazslo is only there to protect him. But from a distance."

Even though it was still hot, I wrapped my hands around the cup and sipped my milk as my mind processed what he just said, and slowly, I understood everything now.

"Kung gano'n sino nga ang kasama niya?"

Natigilan ako. Mamaya si Heidi pala ang kasama niya. Nalintikan na talaga. Naungusan na naman ako ng babaeng iyon. May maipagmamayabang na naman siya sa'kin.

Pinakatitigan niya ako. "You're concern."

"Hindi ah." Napakurap-kurap ako, natatawa. "Hindi 'no. Ma-impeksyon sana ang sugat niya na agad din niyang ikamatay."
