---It was one of those rare moments when the house was calm, with no pressing responsibilities or loud celebrations. Taylor was at rehearsals, preparing for her upcoming shows, leaving Travis Kelce and his friends with the perfect opportunity to hang out and catch up. Patrick Mahomes, Ross Travis, and Aric sat around the living room, beers in hand, joking and enjoying the rare downtime.
"Alright, fellas, I've got something for you," Travis announced with a grin, pulling out his phone. The guys looked up, curious, as he continued, "Taylor's new album with the 'Tortured Poets Department' just dropped today. I figured we could give it a listen while she's out."
"Man, she's gonna kill you if she finds out," Ross laughed, shaking his head. "But I'm in."
Patrick nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I've been hearing a lot about this. Let's see what it's all about."
Travis scrolled through the tracklist until he found the song that had stuck with him the most since Taylor played it for him weeks ago—"Alchemy." He hesitated for a moment, a mix of pride and anticipation on his face, before hitting play.
As the first notes of "The Alchemy" filled the room, the guys quieted down, listening intently. Taylor's voice, smooth and evocative, drew them in from the first line. The song had an almost hypnotic quality, blending haunting melodies with lyrics that seemed to strike a chord.
When Taylor's voice rang out:
*"So when I touch down
Call the amateurs and
Cut 'em from the team
Ditch the clowns, get the crown
Baby, I'm the one to beat
Cause the sign on your heart
Said it's still reserved for me
Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?"*Patrick's eyes widened, and he shot a glance at Travis. "Wait a minute," he started, a grin spreading across his face. "Is this about you?"
Travis shrugged, though the grin he tried to hide was a dead giveaway. "I mean... maybe."
"Man, she's got you down to a T," Ross commented, shaking his head in disbelief. "That's definitely you."
The lyrics continued, describing scenes that were all too familiar to the guys, especially when Taylor sang:
*"These blokes warm the benches
We been on a winning streak
He jokes that it's heroin but this time with an 'E'
Cause the sign on your heart said it's still reserved for me
Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy?"*"That's it," Aric said, leaning back with a laugh. "She's calling us benchwarmers now, isn't she?"
Patrick chuckled, shaking his head. "And here I was thinking we were just hanging out. Apparently, we've been part of a love story this whole time."
The song shifted, and as the beat picked up, Taylor's voice became more playful:
*"Shirts off, and your friends lift you up over their heads
Beer sticking to the floor
Cheers chanted, cause they said
There was no chance, trying to be
The greatest in the league
Where's the trophy?
He just comes running over to me."*The room erupted into laughter, with Ross nudging Travis. "That's you, man! You know you've done that before."
Travis couldn't help but laugh, shaking his head. "What can I say? She's got a way with words."
The guys were still laughing and talking over each other when Travis clicked on the next song, "So High School." The track was upbeat, full of nostalgic energy, but with a sharp edge that only Taylor could deliver. As they listened, the playful banter died down, everyone focused on the lyrics.
Then the line came:
*"Truth, dare, spin bottles
You know how to ball, I know Aristotle
Brand new, full-throttle
Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto
It's true, swear, scouts honor
You knew what you wanted and boy, you got her
Brand new, full-throttle
You already know, babe."*For a moment, the room was silent. Then, all at once, Travis's friends exploded in laughter.
"That's what you did when you claimed to go to the bathroom!" Patrick burst out, clutching his stomach.
"No way!" Ross exclaimed, his eyes wide in disbelief. "That's exactly what you did during our last game night!"
Travis tried to defend himself, but he was laughing too hard. "Hey, I couldn't help it! You know how it is."
Aric shook his head, still laughing. "Man, she really got you on that one. I feel like I need to go buy a dictionary just to listen to this album."
The guys continued to laugh and joke as the song played on, each of them more impressed with Taylor's lyrical prowess and the way she had captured their lives in her music. By the time the song ended, they were all shaking their heads in amazement.
"Travis, you've got yourself a keeper," Patrick said, raising his beer in a toast.
"No kidding," Ross agreed, clinking his bottle against the others. "She's got a way with words, and apparently, a way with exposing all our secrets."
Travis raised his beer, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Here's to hoping she doesn't write about what we say here today."
The room filled with laughter once again, the guys knowing full well that if Taylor did write about them, it would only make the story even better.
---
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the room, the guys continued to hang out, listening to the rest of the album and swapping stories. The music had sparked something—an understanding of just how deeply Taylor's words resonated, and a newfound respect for the way she could turn even the simplest moments into something magical.
And as Travis sat there, surrounded by his friends, he couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride and love for the woman who had not only captured his heart but had turned their lives into poetry.
