The afternoon sun cast long, slanting shadows across the hardwood floor as Travis stepped through the front door, his body weary from an intense football practice. The quiet house felt oddly unsettling, and a creeping sense of anxiety began to settle in as he called out, "Taylor? I'm home!"

When no response came, he set his keys on the counter and moved swiftly through the house, his heart racing. The silence was heavy, making him increasingly uneasy. He checked the kitchen and living room before making his way to their bedroom.

The room was dimly lit, the bed untouched. Panic surged through him. "Taylor?" he called, his voice growing more frantic. He opened the door wider and noticed a soft moan coming from the closet area. His eyes widened with concern as he saw Taylor curled up on the hardwood floor, her body tightly coiled in a fetal position.

Her face was pale, and her breathing was shallow, clearly in distress. Travis dropped to his knees beside her, his heart aching at the sight. "Taylor!" he exclaimed, his voice trembling. "What's going on? Are you okay?"

Taylor's eyes fluttered open, revealing the pain she was trying to hide. "I'm... I'm in so much pain," she whispered, her voice strained. "My period and this migraine. I couldn't stay in bed. I thought I could make it, but I just—" Her voice trailed off as she winced, clutching her stomach.

Travis's heart sank. He gently helped her into a sitting position, his hands careful and tender. "We need to get you back to bed," he said firmly but gently. "Come on, let's get you comfortable."

He helped Taylor rise, supporting her with one arm around her shoulders. She winced and shivered, but she allowed him to guide her to the bed. He laid her down gently, propping her up with pillows. As she settled, Travis went to the bathroom and retrieved the pain medication. He then hurried to the kitchen, grabbing a pack of frozen chicken tenders from the freezer.

Preheating the oven, he set the tenders on a baking sheet. While they cooked, he returned to Taylor's side, placing a warm compress on her forehead and handing her the medication with a glass of water. "Here, take these," he said softly. "I've also got some food in the oven. It should be ready soon."

Taylor took the medication, her hands trembling. She closed her eyes, focusing on the warmth of the compress and the soothing presence of her husband. "Thank you," she murmured, her voice shaky. "You don't have to do all this."

Travis sat beside her, rubbing her back in slow, soothing circles. "I want to," he said, his tone gentle. "You're my wife, and I can't stand seeing you like this. Just relax and let me take care of you."

Minutes felt like hours as Travis waited for the chicken tenders to bake. He continued to speak softly, sharing stories from practice and recounting funny moments from the day, hoping to distract her from the pain. He checked on the food frequently and adjusted the compress on her forehead, making sure she was as comfortable as possible.

When the oven timer finally dinged, Travis quickly removed the tenders and set them on a plate. He added a simple salad on the side and brought the plate back to the bedroom. "I've got your meal," he said softly, placing it gently beside her. "I know you might not be very hungry, but I thought it might help a bit."

Taylor looked at the plate with appreciation. "Thank you," she said, managing a weak smile. "It looks great."

With Travis's help, she sat up and ate a few of the chicken tenders. The warm food offered some comfort amidst her discomfort. Travis continued to sit beside her, holding her hand and keeping up a gentle stream of conversation. He could see the relief in her eyes as she began to feel a bit better.

Once Taylor had finished eating, Travis decided to do something more to help her relax. He stood up and moved to the entertainment center. He selected one of Taylor's favorite Disney movies from Disney Plus. It was LILO & Stitch. He knew how much she loved it  and hoped that they would provide a comforting distraction.

As the movie began to play, Travis dimmed the lights further, creating a cozy and soothing atmosphere. He returned to Taylor's side, arranging the pillows to make her as comfortable as possible. He settled next to her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

"I thought a little Disney magic might help," he said with a soft smile. "I know how much you love these movies."

Taylor's eyes brightened at the sight of the familiar characters on the screen. "That's a great idea," she said, her voice growing stronger. "Thank you."

Travis adjusted the pillows and made sure she was comfortable before he leaned back beside her. They watched the movie together, Taylor leaning into Travis, finding comfort in his presence and the familiar story unfolding on the screen. The soothing soundtrack and the comforting scenes seemed to ease her discomfort.

As the movie continued, Travis kept a close eye on Taylor, adjusting the compress on her forehead and making sure she had everything she needed. He rubbed her back gently, his touch a constant source of comfort. The movie provided a welcome distraction, and Taylor began to feel the storm inside her calm, her pain becoming more manageable.

The characters on the screen, the warmth of the food, and Travis's unwavering support combined to bring her a much-needed sense of relief. She leaned into him, her head resting on his shoulder. "This is just what I needed," she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude.

Travis kissed the top of her head, his love and concern evident in every gesture. "I'm glad I could help," he said softly. "You mean everything to me, and I'd do anything to make you feel better."

As the movie neared its end, Taylor felt a renewed sense of hope. The storm inside her had lessened, and she knew that with Travis by her side, she could face anything. They sat together in the quiet of their room, the bond between them strengthened by the trials they had faced together.

Travis continued to hold her close, his presence a steady source of comfort and love. As the final scenes of the movie played out, Taylor felt a profound sense of peace, knowing that she had someone who truly cared for her and would always be there to support her through life's challenges.
