As Taylor settled deeper into Travis's embrace, she could feel the warmth radiating from him, providing a safe space for her to share her truth. Taking a shaky breath, she knew it was time to confront the shadows of her past, to lay bare the feelings she had buried for too long. "No you deserve a proper explanation." Taylor exclaimed. But, Travis just shook his head no. "I don't need any explanation ok baby girl I'm not gonna force you to explain anything I understand and know why didn't want to talk about it, you already talked about it in the documentary and I don't want you to feel pressured into doing or saying anything."Taylor took a moment to gather herself, the vulnerability of her previous confessions lingering in the air between her and Travis. She had felt a release, but the emotional burden remained heavy, and she knew there was more to share.
"Travis," she started, her voice trembling slightly as she looked up at him, "I want to explain everything, especially about the Kanye and Kim situation. It all traces back to the VMAs in September 2009."Travis listened intently, his expression serious as she recounted the moment that felt like a lifetime ago. "I was just a kid. I had won the award for Best Female Video, and I was so excited. But then Kanye jumped on stage and interrupted me, saying Beyoncé deserved the award instead. That moment was so humiliating. I was standing there in front of millions, feeling like I was being torn apart."
Tears welled in her eyes as she continued, "That moment turned into a meme, something that haunted me. I felt like I had to fight to prove my worth again and again. It made me doubt everything I had accomplished."
"People didn't see how that affected you," Travis said, his voice calm and steady. "They just laughed at the moment.""Exactly," she replied, her voice thick with emotion. "Fast forward to 2016, and Kanye released a song called
'Famous, where he took credit for my success. That was hard enough, but then Kim released that video. It made it look like I had approved the lyrics, turning the world against me again. It was brutal. #TaylorSwift|sOverParty trended worldwide. It felt like the entire world decided to turn on me. I didn't know how to handle it."
Travis nodded, his heart aching for her.
"You didn't deserve any of that, Tay."She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. "And then there was the incident with David Mueller, the radio DJ. People only saw the picture of him with his hand under my skirt during the Red tour promo. They didn't know he put his hand in my underwear. It was a violation, and it made me feel powerless. I wrote 'Clean' not as a breakup song like everyone thinks, but as a way to cope with that feeling of violation and betrayal. I wanted to reclaim my narrative."
"I'm so sorry you had to go through that," Travis said softly, his voice barely above a whisper.Taylor looked at him, vulnerability etched on her face. "There's something else I need to tell you about that time.
The 1989 era was one of the lowest points in my life. People were angry about how skinny I was, how I was perceived as annoying. They didn't know that I was spiraling into an eating disorder."
Travis felt a rush of emotions at her confession, his heart breaking for her as she continued. "I love you, and I know 1989 is your favorite album, but it's hard for me to listen to it sometimes.
It reminds me of how I was feeling when everyone was judging me for my body. I was in the middle of battling something so dark, and it was exhausting.""Taylor," Travis said gently, cupping her face in his hands, "you're so brave for sharing all of this. You've overcome so much, and I admire you for it. You're not weak; you're incredibly strong for fighting through all of that."
She smiled through her tears, feeling a weight lift from her heart with his words. "Thank you for understanding. It means more than you know."
After their emotional conversation, Travis suggested they go out for dinner.
"Let's grab your favorite chicken tenders. I think you deserve a treat after everything you've shared."
Taylor's eyes lit up, grateful for the change of pace. "That sounds perfect."
