Arizona's pov
It's been a few months since we had Sofia for the week. Michelle has been more confident around the babies. she even babysat Zola so that Meredith and Derek could have a date night. She also worked on a case with me, the kid didn't end up needing surgery but she was on the peds ward for a while. It was a very manic Sunday morning. I was paged to the pit for a consult on a 6 year old boy. He fell from a second floor window. When I arrived he was just having a breathing tube fitted by April Kepner.
Arizona- what we got?
April- Spencer Shaw, 6 years old, fell from a second floor window. he was responsive on arrival with a heart rate of 76, his BP at 114/60 and GCS score of 18. has since become unresponsive with dilating, sluggish pupils. We are just going to send him to radiology for a head CT and we have paged Neuro to meet you there.
Arizona- okay Wilson, you're with me. lets go.
we rushed him for his CT and waited for his results to come up. I heard the door go expecting either Michelle or Derek to walk in but I was wrong. instead there was a good looking brunette woman I did not know.
Arizona- can I help you?
Amelia- I'm Dr Amelia Shepherd, Derek's sister. him and Dr Grey are in surgery so the chief gave me privileges to help on this case.
Arizona- oh. okay. I'm Arizona Robbins, head of peds.
Amelia- what we got?
Arizona- Spencer Shaw, he fell from a second floor window. his scans have just come up.
Amelia- ooo looks like he needs surgery. he has a skull fracture and a pretty bad bleed on his frontal lobe, and do you see that?
Arizona- is that what i think it is?
Amelia- yup, that's a small tumour on his cerebellum.
Arizona- We need to inform his parents. Wilson can you prep him for surgery while we do that.
Jo- of course Dr.Robbins.
Amelia and I went to speak with the boys parents. They had just finished speaking to the cops about the accident. We both explained that the pressure from this tumour would have affected the boy's motor skills, which may have been the cause for him to fall. They agreed to us doing the surgery to remove the tumour, stop his haemorrhage and fox his skull. This was a delicate surgery. I was worried because i had only just met Amelia. I didn't know what type of surgeon she was, if she was any good. On the way down to the OR I saw Michelle rushing out of a scrub room.
Arizona- hey, Grey. You got a minute?
Shell- not really, but whats up?
Arizona- so tonight...
Amelia- Michelle Grey. Long time no see.
Shell- Amy! Derek said you were here for a few days. They got you working I see.
Amelia- I told you, only Derek gets to call me Amy. Yeah, I'm on a case with Dr Robbins.
Shell- my bad, i forgot. I hope the surgery goes well. I really should run. Sorry.
Arizona- bu... fuck.
Amelia- sorry, I interrupted you two? you were going to ask her something...
Arizona- it's cool, it's fine... nothing important... lets go get scrubbed.
The two of us and Jo scrubbed in before we got gowned and gloved ready for the surgery. everything was going really well. Amelia was an exceptional surgeon, like her brother. once she had everything under control and we were nearing the end of surgery, I decided to ask her about how she knew Michelle and I wish I never opened my mouth.
