Michelle's pov
I don't understand why Arizona is acting like this. It's as if she is jealous that I slept with somebody other than her. No, it is like I cheated on her. Which I would never do. As I was making my way towards the Neuro department, My pager went off with a 911 to the pit. I sighed out loud then ran all the way there. On arrival I spotted Owen waving at me to follow him.
Shell- what we got?
Owen- 64 year old, Stanley Peters. he was involved in an MVC head on collision, no seat belt. paramedics said he was unresponsive when they got to him as well as on route here.
Shell(checking his pupils)- his right pupil has blown, and there is no reaction to light. He needs a CT immediately.
Owen- he has abdominal bleeding we need to get him to the OR
Shell- CT first then OR. he is stable enough.
Owen- okay, I hope you're right Grey.
Shell- I'm always right, now lets go.
We rushed the guy through to CT where the results showed that he had a lot of pressure on his brain due to a massive bleed, that needed surgery to fix as soon as possible. we rushed down to OR 3 and got scrubbed in. the surgery went well to start off with. I managed to stop the bleed and relieve the pressure to the brain within 4 hours. while I was fixing the guy's brain, Owen was working on his abdominal injuries. he seemed on top of the guys injuries throughout the surgery. As I was going to close after a successful surgery on my part, the Guy's monitors started to go off.
Shell- what the hell!
Owen- Shit, Grey, give me a hand, he has a bleeder and I can't find the source.
Shell- fuck! come on. where is it... Where is it?
Owen- he's bleeding out... It's too late... he's gone. time of death 18:47.
Shell- fuck!! we nearly had him.
I ripped off my gown and gloves and stormed out of the OR to scrub out, Owen followed behind me.
Owen- It's just one of those things, Grey. Had we not done the CT, we could have fixed his abdominal injuries, but...
Shell- his brain injury would have killed him.
Owen- exactly. you made a good call there, Grey... you okay?
Shell- yeah, it just sucks. I hate losses, and Arizona going off on me earlier. It's just one of those days.
Owen- well, If you need to talk about anything, my door is always open.
Shell- chief... why are you being so nice to me?
Owen- because, believe it or not, I actually like you, I know the feeling is not mutual, so don't pretend it is. You are such a caring friend, you're an outstanding surgeon and you tell it like it is and you aren't afraid to do so. I have great respect for you, Michelle Grey.
Shell- oh, thanks. I wasn't going to pretend, I don't like you. but I suppose I could try to start being nicer to you. (holding hand out to shake)- friends?
Owen(shaking her hand)- friends...
Today started off so well. now Arizona is being funny with me and we lost a patient. thankfully it was almost time for me to go home. I finished all of my charts before going to the lounge to get changed. I sent Meredith a message to let her know I would meet her at Joe's. I was hoping I'd see Arizona so we can talk about what the hell is going on with her. I rushed out of the hospital knowing Arizona had finished an hour before me. As I was about to cross the street I saw a cab drive by with what looked like Arizona in the back seat. I hoped it wasn't actually her, but I got my answer when i let myself into an empty apartment. I tried to think where she would have gone. I was going to message her but thought i would give her some space and speak to her when we are both at home and she has had time to cool off. I had a very quick shower and got ready before heading over to Joe's to meet Meredith. Thankfully it wasn't too busy that evening. I went over to the bar and sat with Meredith.
