New to Seattle

2. First day.

What an amazing sleep I had. I didn't do very much with my day yesterday. I woke up late in the morning, before going on a ride around the city on my motorbike. I made sure I had an early night so I wasn't too tired for my meeting with Richard Webber. Waking up around 5 am, I put on some leggings and a t shirt and went for a run. I needed to mentally prepare for my day. If I accept the position, I will be working the rest of the day. After the journey here I can't see myself declining the offer. After an hour I arrived back at the apartment building. I was standing outside the unit doing some stretches when I heard a familiar voice catch my attention.

Callie- good morning. You going for a run?

Shell- morning Callie, nah, I have just got back from one. I need to take a shower before my meeting at my new job.

Callie- Wheres that?  what is it you do for work?

Shell- I'm a surgical resident, I transferred from Johns Hopkins, if you have heard of it.

Callie- oh wow, that's great, are you joining the programme at Seattle Grace?

Shell- yeah, I am.

Callie- I work there too. I'm a 5th year resident. specialising in Ortho. what are you going to specialise in?

 Shell- nice, I'm looking into Neuro but I haven't fully decided.

Callie- well i had better go, otherwise I will be late for rounds. see you around the hospital then.

Shell- yeah of course. bye.

After i finished having my shower I got myself dressed wearing a smart but casual outfit. I was soon making my way over to the hospital. As i walked into the main doors, i headed straight to the nurses station to sign in.

Shell- hello, i have a meeting with chief Webber at 9 o'clock... um I'm Michelle Grey.

Nurse- yes, he is expecting you. If you go up to the 3rd floor it's right off the cat walk.

Shell- oh okay, thank you very much.

As i made my way to the elevator i saw Callie waiting.

Shell- busy day?

Callie- oh, Shell. No not too bad actually. Where are you heading?

Shell- the chiefs office for my meeting. 3rd floor right?

Callie- that's right, i can walk you there if you want.

Shell- only if you are sure.

Callie- it's no problem. You know, you should come for a drink with us sometime then you can get to know everyone.

Shell(unsure)- yeah, maybe. I'm not really great with socialising in big groups, unless I'm drunk first.

Callie(laughing)- we will just have to get you drunk first then

Shell- sounds like a plan.

Callie- if you don't mind me saying, you seem really young.

Shell- i am. I'm only 29, i skipped 2 years of school.

Callie- oh okay nice. Well here we go, the chiefs office. Good luck.

Shell- thanks.

I knocked on the door and waited until i heard the chief tell me to come in. The meeting went very well he told me that I was to shadow under another resident called Dr Bailey for my first week just while I learned the layout of the hospital. With that there was a knock on the door and in walked a short black woman with a stern look on her face. She was carrying a pair of scrubs and a white coat.

Richard- just on time, Dr Bailey this is Dr Grey, if you could take her up to the lounge she can get changed quickly, then she will be shadowing you this week.
