"Dalia's next door," I say to Emilio when he asks me if I'm sure for the hundredth time. I look back to my door step watching as Spear and my Dad wave at us with smiles. There was a start to everything.
Spear and our father had hung out multiple times a week, I knew that eventually John would ask to watch Spear and soon enough I'd have to say yes. At lunch my father had shared with us that he had gotten a new job, well had an interview for one but he was more than positive that he would get it which just made me even more sure of leaving Spear with him.
The person I knew before wouldn't think to work for someone let alone go for an interview at his age. My father believes in business and making a name for yourself which is what he's been trying to do his whole life. Now the only thing he wanted to do was a form a relationship with us.
Though I was hesitant, I had to put my negative thoughts aside and trust that he might just want to do the good thing. I had also texted Dalia to check in hourly to see how the both of them were, so I wasn't entirely leaving him alone.
"Are you ready for dinner?" Emilio starts the engine and places his hand on my thigh as if it was muscle movement.
"Where are we going?" I say smiling over at him. He smirks sending a quick wink with a glance my way which send off a chunk of butterflies in my stomach: Biting my lip I watch him tap the steering wheel, God he looks good.
"Surprise my darling," he squeezes my thigh as my cheeks heat at the word my. Pouting I look out the window smiling once my face is out of view.
Allowing my head to rest back I soon get distracted by the views as we drive. The moment we reach the restaurant I realize how dark it suddenly had became. "This place is far," I comment reaching into the back seats to grab my purse.
As I turn around Emilio is already at my door opening it for me with a grin. Standing, I take his hand and peck his lips, "thank you," I say as he shuts the door behind me. Kissing him had suddenly become my favourite thing to do.
"This place is huge," I say looking at the two story restaurant in front of me. Emilio squeezes my hand as we walk closer to the entrance and the moment he starts tapping the back of it I can tell he's nervous. "Are you ok?" I say taking his hand in the middle of my hands.
"More than ok," he says staring at me with a soft eyed expression. I let one of my hands go from his hand to stroke his neck in appreciation of him. Our moment is short lived when I hear a voice a few feet away.
"Hello there- Milo? Zolotse is that you?" {darling} a woman with a strong accent pauses in front of us with shock lacing her face. She's an older woman with white hair curled above her shoulder and glasses that take up half of her face.
"Baba" He says letting go of my hand and taking the first steps towards her. I don't notice how short she is until Emilio wraps his arms around the old woman lovingly. They stay embraced for what feels like minutes until he lets go allowing her rub his cheek.
His smile is wide and only brings a large one to my face in the process.
"What a beautiful surprise babushka," her voice cracks ever so often causing her to clear her throat after every long sentence. Suddenly her eyes land on me, they grow wide in the process but when her smile reaches its highest she looks back at Emilio with a knowing look. "Is this her?" She says in a hushed tone, unlucky for me I can hear her perfectly which causes my cheeks to heat and neck to sweat.
He talks about me...
"This is Davina," Emilio steps aside so the old woman can take a good look at me. I keep a smile on my face while being the first to walk up to her with my hand out.
