DAY 1: Japanese etiquette (chat this might not be right so yeah)
"Ok so you know how to greet people when walking into their homes right?"
"Yes you bow and say good afternoon or something and I take my shoes off and make sure they are pointed at the door"
"Yes-" I said before the knock on the door.
I open the door to find my grandparents bodyguard.
"Both of your kimonos, Mr. Shirosagi, your grandmother is excited to see Gabe in the kimono she picked out for him" He said while holding out a dry cleaner bag with our kimonos in it.
"Oh thank you, Mr. Simon, tell my grandparents I said thank you and tell my grandmother I'm just as excited to see him in one" I said.
"Bye, have a good day both of you" He said.
"Bye, you too" I said.
I closed the door and locked it.
"Your grandparents have a..."
"A bodyguard? Yes both of them have their own that was my grandmothers"
"Lui, how important is your family?"
"Oh very, like I said my grandpa is a very important man, he also owns lots of businesses and guess who they are going to?!"
"You?"
"Yes, me! We'll be very rich, I give it but the time we're married he'll give me them" I said excited.
I was honestly gonna keep it a surprise till we got married. I also know we are getting the businesses when married. My grandpa said I'll get it once I'm married cuz he said I'm not stable enough... I disagree.
"Oh wow..."
"anyway let's go back to our practice" I said placing the kimono's on the couch for us to try on after.
"Ok, next thing you just follow us to the -"
"Wait no gifts?" He asked.
"Oh I usually make them some sort of treat, like cookies, little pieces of cake, or matcha" I said.
"You still give them something even if they're your family?" He asked.
"I don't know, but my mom always send me with something for them to eat whenever I'd visit them. She use to say 'Lui, if you don't bring something for them they will eat you instead' or 'they won't let you in' so I never not brought them something, I didn't want to fuck around and find out, and because they have a sweet tooth and they like my baking"
"Oh ok I see, carry on with what you were saying before with following you somewhere?"
"Oh! So you're going to follow us to the tatami area where we will have tea and you will drink it gabe weather you like it or not"
"Oh ok"
"Now, if they don't tell you to sit we don't sit, even if you see them sit down. You. Don't. Sit. Until. They. Tell. You. Gabe I promise you I will smack you if you do or if I don't they will"
"Ok ok I think I get it"
"Second don't ask or pour your own tea, they will ask you and you say yes, if they don't say you're a little thirsty, and never ever touch the tea pot, it was a gift and they don't want any one breaking it, ruining it, or dirtying it."
"Ok ok"
I got up and headed for the kitchen.
"Where are you going?"
"To get our cups to practice" I said.
I went to the kitchen and got some cups in the back of the cabinet the same cups they use for tea. I placed one on one side of the coffee place and the other on the other side. I put pillows on the floor for sitting spots. Then I got some water and pour some into both.
"How are your knees gabe? Are they Megan knees?" I asked.
"I don't know, never paid attention to them like that" he said.
"Let's see, now when I sit down, sit down exactly how I do, ok?"
"Ok"
I went on one knee then the other and sat on my heels. He copied me. I looked under the table and saw his knees were to together.
"Manspread more and feet more together and one of your big toes should be on top of the other" I said and He fixed it.
"Like this?" He asked.
"Yes perfect, and don't worry you probably don't have to do this for the whole time I'm sure they will cut you some slack if not I'll tell you if they aren't" I said.
"Ok" He said.
"Then you're gonna pick up the cup like this" I said while placing one hand around the cup then once I picked up the cup I placed an another hand on the bottom. Then he followed me.
"Keep your fingers straight and together, not a rule just my preference and looks better and also make sure you are holding it firmly you don't want to drop it also when you sip close your eyes, it made seem stupid telling you this but we've had guests that keep there eyes open while sipping and make sure you sip no big sips and slurping no big sip because your cup will be finished in a minute and you don't want to look like a biggie, you got all that?" I said.
"Keep fingers together, have a firm hold on the cup, sip with eyes closed, no big sips or slurping sounds, and I am a biggie I can pick you up and manhandle you rn" He said.
I rolled my eyes at the last comment.
"Ok and sip for a few seconds I usually do three" I said before putting the cup up to my lips and taking a little sip.
I peaked to see if he was doing the same and he was. We put down our cups back on the table.
"Oh and if you are going to use the restroom say restroom not bathroom they don't like the bathroom it ruins their tea"
"Restroom not bathroom check" He said.
"Or you can just say 'Toire'"
"Toire?"
"Yes, also no elbows on the table keep your hands on your lap or just keep your hands to yourself" I said.
"Ok no elbows and hands to myself I see... can I stop sitting like this? It hurts" he said.
"Nope we are gonna hold it for a hour"
"AN HOUR?!"
"Yes then tomorrow with no pillows!"
