Dennis' POV
I get a peace offer
There are always two types of antagonists: the morally grey characters who manage to garner both fans and haters and, the most irritating, irredeemable people who you just can't wait to get rid of.
Any guesses where these two belong?
Stuck between a confused Brian and a scheming Obito, I knew whom to pick first. I snatched back my letter from Brian and he didn't fight this time.
I stuffed the letter in my pocket while Obito eyed it. "You got your gender results?"
Brian frowned, he almost opened his mouth but I beat him to it. "Even if I did, that's got nothing to do with you. So, you can get lost."
"Aw," Obito batted his long eyelashes in a sad way. "That was rude. I wanted to ask about your result, I was quite eager for it."
"You don't have to ask him for that!" Brian interjected. "The answer's right in front of you-he's an omega!!" He yelled that last word so loud that a handful of heads turned our way. Some of them whispered amongst themselves, looking at the scene.
You're so dead, Brian.
Obito was surprised for a second, his eyes glimmering before his usual grin reappeared. He took a step towards me.
"And how can you say that?" He asked Brian, but his eyes stared at me.
"How?!" Brian puffed out his chest. "It's too obvious. Small, dainty, timid and...pretty. Anybody can recognize that...especially ones like me." He gave an unsettling smile in my direction.
Wait till it's just us two, you jerk. Wait a sec, whom did he call 'pretty'?!
I gaped at him, almost revolted by his choice of words. The thought of having ice cream fruit salad no longer sounded appetizing.
Don't tell me these two are gonna torture me together!
Brian seemed unfazed but he didn't notice that a sudden, dark look cast over Obito's face. His eyes were narrowed; cold and shrewd.
"So, that's how you identify omegas, is it?" Obito jerked his head towards Brian, his brown curls whipping around him. His eyes filled with a strange anger as he glared daggers at him.
"Of course!" Brian crossed his arms. "You know how it is," he shrugged. "They all pretend to be something they're not - try to prove themselves to everyone when we all know that you can't change what's been determined at birth. What's determined by nature."
With every single word that Brian uttered, the glint in Obito's eyes got darker and darker, and his falsetto smile became sweeter and sweeter.
This is getting dangerous. I don't know what Obito is up to, but if Brian doesn't shut his big mouth soon...I have a bad feeling about this.
"It's pointless, you see. Because no matter what, omegas will be omegas at the end of the day. They can't do what alphas can." Brian finished with a foolish, proud chuckle.
Obito took a step towards Brian. His smile concealed his true feelings, but his eyes betrayed them.
The air seemed to get heavier around us, the wind had died down and it felt somewhat suffocating.
Out of the myriad of pheromones that lingered in the air, one stood out clear. Roses. Obito was closing the gap between them with every step.
He stopped until he was directly in front of Brian, staring down at him with his unsettling smile. Brian gave a smug nod, but confusion soon took over his features. A bead of sweat trickled down his face.
