Past
A week later:
Tae had set the table for two, her movements were so natural as she placed the plates and utensils.
The soft clinking of dishes felt oddly loud in the quiet apartment.
The aroma of her cooking, Kook's favorite dish, spread through the room, but there was no response from him.
She checked the clock, noting that Kook was due home soon.
As the minutes ticked by, she forced herself to stay hopeful. Because they already planned to come home early and eat together.
When Kook finally walked in, his expression was neutral, his eyes glossing over her as he headed towards his room.
Tae: "Love,"
Tae called out, trying to sound cheerful.Becasue this is the first time, he is leaving without kissing her and asking her how was the day.
It was their daily routine for years.
Tae: "I've made your favorite. Come on let's eat. I'm feeling so hungry."
She says with a pout.Kook paused briefly, not meeting her gaze.
Kook: "I'm really tired, bear. I've got a lot of work to catch up on."
He knew if he looks into her eyes, he could never win.Tae's heart sank as Kook continued walking.
Tae: "Okay, well, I'll leave your plate here if you change your mind."
She waited in the dining room, hoping he would come at least to sit beside her when she ate.
Her heart heavy with the silence that followed. The clattering of her fork against her plate was the only sound as she ate alone.
Her eyes becoming mist for some unknown reasons.
Later that night, Tae sat beisde Kook on their study table.
Tae: "Kookie, can we talk?"
She asked, her voice soft but firm.Kook: "I'm busy right now. Can it wait?"
He said looking her once and again gave his attention to the book infront of him, his voice tired and distant.Tae took a deep breath, trying to keep her emotions in check.
Tae: "Yeah. Good night, Kookie"
She says pressing her lips on his as a good night kiss, usually it turns into a make-out session.Tae retrived back with a faint smile which did not go unnoticed by Kook.
Only he knew how much he wants to kiss her, keep her in his arms safe and sound for the rest of their lives.
Not atleast once they ate alone when both are in the apartment.
This is the first time one is eating alone.
After Tae fell asleep, Kook made his way towards thier bed and sat their infront of her, who is looking so cute with a pout on her lips as she hugged a pillow seeking for warmth.
Kook pecked her forehead caressing her hair and brought the food which Tae cooked for them and ate it beside her.
As soon he fell asleep beside her cuddling from behind, Tae turned towards him and snuggled into his chest with a smile.
Days skip:
Tae came home after a long meeting with Bogum Park, feeling exhausted but relieved that the day was over and now she can spend all her time with her love.
As she entered the apartment, she noticed Kook waiting in the living room, his arms crossed and his posture tense.
Tae: "Bun, I'm home late, sorry for keeping you."
Tae said, while removing her coat and making her way towards Kook to kiss him.Kook's heart sank when she spoke like that, the words he have been practicing her long gone from his mind.
Kook: "How was your meeting?"
His tone was sharper than usual.Tae: "It was productive,"
Tae replied, trying to keep her voice steady.Tae: "We made a lot of progress on the project."
Kook: "You seem to spend a lot of time with Bogum.
Is there something going on that I don't know about?"
Kook's eyes narrowed.Tae: "Yeah, Koo. Today I ate strawberry cake."
She says with a sheepish smile, making him smile along with her.Kook: "I'm asking between you too?"
He says with a monotone almost blank.Tae: "Love, it's just work. You know that. We're collaborating on a project, nothing more."
Tae's heart raced. This is a topic they never discussed,d but most importantly,y they always make fun of the people who propose to them or when they feel like someone has feelings for them.
Kook: "I don't know, Tae. It just seems like you're always with him. It's hard not to question it."
Kook's face remained expressionless as he says with a shrug.Though he is trying hard not to stutter, his heart is aching even to say those words.
Tae: "I've been open with you about my work. Why are you suddenly so suspicious?"
Tae felt a pang of hurt. Tears forming behind her eyes.Kook didn't respond, his gaze dropping to the floor.
The room felt heavy with unspoken words and unresolved tension.
Tae sighed, feeling the weight of the conversation hang in the air.
As the days went by, Kook's questions and accusations became more frequent.
He would bring up Bogum in conversations, using it as an excuse to argue.
Tae tried to stay calm, but the constant questioning was wearing her down.
One evening, after another tense exchange, Tae tried to address the situation again.
Tae: "Kook, I need to know what's going on in your head, baby. This constant questioning about a third person in our relationship is tearing us apart."
Kook: "I'm just trying to understand where we stand. You're so focused on work and Bogum that I feel left out."
He says his face showing no expression.Tae: "I've never given you a reason to doubt me.
This isn't about that damn Bogum.
It's about us.
Can't you see that?"
Tae says as tears makes their way down her cheeks. She raises her voice.
Tae: "You are really thinking of me like that after our years of everything together."
She says not knowing how he is even thinking in that way.Kook's response was to turn away, leaving Tae alone in the dimly lit living room.
He can't bear to see Tae in tears, he can't listen when she is sobbing, he can't tolerate when she uses names for herslef.
But he is the reason behind everything that's going on and he have to do it.
Cause he has no other choice.
Tell me how it was...
Stay tuned😁😁
