That day evening:
It had been another one of the worst days in his life cause it was his father's death anniversary, and Tae got into an accident.
He was in the same hospital as her but yet he had no guts to go to her and look at her and speak to her.
But what is he going to speak?
A sign language. He just chuckled at himself for the answer her said to himself in his brain.
Kook was contemplating whether to go to Tae's house today or tomorrow.
Because he thought Tae might be at her father's house after she was discharged.
But then, he just wanted to go to her and see her.
He was so sure that Tae wouldn't be in their once-shared apartment now.
So he finally decided to go there, be disappointed, feel sad when she wasn't there, and just be alone when he saw the empty apartment.
He mindlessly logged out of his shift and walked out.
It was only when he started getting wet that he realized it was raining heavily, and he remembered he had come on his bike.
Still, he drove towards Tae's apartment.
His breaths were uneven, his mind was blank, and his heart was thumping.
He was so lost in his thoughts that even if she was there, he didn't know what he would say.
And he was sure he wouldn't even get the chance.
He knew he shouldn't be here.
But after seeing her so pale on the hospital bed, he couldn't resist himself.
He needed to see her. Needed to feel her presence, to know she was truly okay with his own eyes.
He took slow steps because it would take time to reach her apartment, and the cool breeze, along with the little splatter of raindrops, sent chills down his spine.
When he finally stood in front of Tae's apartment, his gaze landed on a small artificial plant by the door, the same one they had bought together because it looked nice and lively.
He smiled at it sadly.
Then, he knocked on the door and rang the bell because he was so sure no one was inside.
On the other side, Tae had been discharged and went back to her apartment, even though Mr. Kim had asked her to come back to their place.
Now Tae, Mr. Kim, and Bogum were at her house, discussing how careful she needed to be, how she had to take care of herself, business matters, and some random things.
The doorbell rang. Tae was about to get up to answer the door, but Bogum said he would.
Kook sighed softly, ready to leave.
But then, the door opened.
Kook froze, slightly surprised.
His jaw clenched when he realized Tae had come back here instead of going to Mr. Kim's house.
And now, he was cursing himself for coming here,
For seeing him answering her door. And right now, Bogum knew exactly why Kook was here.
A silent beat passed between them before Bogum finally spoke.
Bogum: "She's inside."
He said.Kook gave him a curt nod, poking his inner cheek.
No, he is not jealous.
Without another word, Bogum walked back inside.
Bogum: "Tae, there's someone here for you."
Kook could hear Mr. Kim talking to Tae about something, and he knew he needed to leave.
Then, he heard Bogum.
He was on the verge of turning back and leaving the way he came.
But then, he stopped.
Because of the soft footsteps.
And finally, she appeared.
Kim Taehyung.
Even in the dim light of the hallway, even with exhaustion visible on her face, she was still breathtaking.
He forgot how to breathe for a second.
Tae: "You are dren--"
Her words were cut off when he spoke.Kook: "Mi amour."
His brain was playing tricks on him.
He hadn't even realized what he had just called her.
The way his voice cracked, raw with emotion.
The emotions he could no longer hide.
Not from the world.
Not from her.She froze.
Her fingers twitched at her side, her lips parted slightly as she forgot what she was about to say.
She had long forgotten how to breathe.
Kook exhaled as if the weight of the world had just dropped off his shoulders.
And without any delay, he softly stepped forward.
He wrapped his arms around her, pressing his lips against her forehead.
Not too tightly.
Just enough,
To feel her warmth.
To remind himself that she was here.
That she was okay.Tae's breath caught in her throat, her hands trembling as they hovered in the air.
She was still processing the nickname.
Their special nickname.
The one he had whispered against her skin on sleepless nights.
The one he had murmured into her hair when he held her close.
The one that had made her heart ache in the best and worst way possible.
The one that always made her heart skip a beat. And when she felt his warmth.
Even through his rain-soaked clothes touching her own.
She melted into him.
The way his soft lips felt against her forehead.
Just for a second.
Just long enough for her heart to remember what it was like,
To be loved by him.But then.
Tae: "Can you please leave?"
She whispered against his chest.Because she wasn't ready yet.
She needed to prepare herself, to be mentally strong before facing him again.
But for now,
For this second,
This was what she needed to do.But it shattered him more than if she had screamed it.
His grip loosened immediately.
He stepped back, searching her eyes,
Desperate to find something.
Anything.
Something that told him she didn't mean it.The second he let go, Mr. Kim's voice called for Tae.
She just looked at him.
He swallowed the lump in his throat, nodding slowly.
And without a word, he turned around and left.
Tell me how it was...
Stay tuned 😁😁
